She gets very nervous when you get near the cut. Its not bad enough for stitches. I am just worried about infection.

Hibiscrub from a vets is the best thing to use for keeping it clean.
Keep a very close eye on it, if it starts to look anyway infected, usually starts around the edges, go straight to the vet for some antibiotics.
When my female ripped the top of her paw open the vet said don't worry about her licking it, that she would keep it clean that way.
If you can't get near it for proper cleaning just take her into the vet for them to clean properly and give you antibiotics.

Alcohol will burn and peroxide makes dogs vomit...so stay clear of those two! I use neosporin! If your dog wants to lick it, then get the gauze that adheres only to itself...this way it won't pull the hair!

You can get some great pet sprays to heal it I order mine from jeffers pets but I'm sure any pet smart will have it this way you don't have to get to close to the cut so they come more letting you use it

I always use neosporin(antibacterial cream) on my dogs when they have a cut. Put it on her every day and it will heal.

clean with peroxide and then use a triple antibiotic ointment .
If it doesn't appear to healing by Mondaytake to teh vet and have checked.
