...tell them? If so, how would you tell them? If not, why? Is it fair that you have to smell funk for 8 hours?

If you do say something to it, make sure you do it in private and politley, and don't go around telling other people about it, the person would probably get really embarassed, just be tatical about it. =)

How do you know that you are equally offensive to them because of your whiny voice or some such? Tit for Tat. All things might work out even, else have some chutzpah and walk up to your co-worker and say "You sure are stinky!". You might get knocked out cold, but at least you got that off your chest. Short of praying for Divine intervention and the person ends up fired or something, there really isn't much you can do (legally).....but if you don't mind bending the rules a bit, there's some rather effective ways to deal with such a person, but can't reveal them here except the Stinky Rotten Fish in Locker trick which my niece used successfully. Give them something even worse to smell!

You have several suggestions already.. may you also consider that the person in question has a medical issue. There are some illnesses which cause odors and there is nothing that can be done about the odor.

Talk to your supervisor and/or HR dept. Both should have had training in dealing with this type of situation.

If you know them well, like them, and are supposed to be a friend - find a way to talk to them in private (in the open air if it makes it more bearable!). Say that you have noticed it and wondered if they are unwell/have a problem with plumbing at home/skint and needing new undies/living rough etc. If you are in a position to offer help it may show you actually care and are not just being spiteful

If it is someone that 'just works there' - take it to the top and let management/HR deal with it.

Even if others in the workplace are gossiping, try to avoid it as it is unpleasant to gossip and not a nice way to treat anybody, regardless of the problem.

Maybe bring it up with a supervisor/human resources... While most companies don't have a "personal hygene" policy they can/should help remedy a "funky" situation. Maybe the person doesn't know they are "funky"... If it still isn't improved MAYBE tell the offensive co-worker in private that he/she smells offensive. Good luck

I like to be the "brutally honest guy" so I would pull them aside and tell them about their problem but just be able to handle it when they tell you your breath smells like you just took a bite off of a dogshit burger

Report it to your superior. If your company has a hygiene policy, the manager can take this person aside and discuss it.

I do work with someone who stinks and we don't tell him because it might hurt his feelings. We just hope that sooner or later he will figure it out himself.
