Someone posted this link a couple of days ago. My question is: Does The Onion produce spoof articles, or do they report actual stories that are just ridiculous. I'm not sure if this story is for real. Anyone know?

Whew! Thanks! I was really scared this was real. I hope it doesn't give anyone any fuel for their arguments!

It only sounds real. It's a spoof.

(Scary how you have to wonder for a second about creationists, isn't it?)

The Onion is all spoof articles.

Poe's Law says that it's impossible to write a parody of fundamentalism that someone won't mistake for the real thing.

As others have said, 100% satire and 100% hilarious.

Back in 2002 The Onion ran this article:

The Chinese government news agency re-ran the story as legit news. Of course they spun it to highlight greedy and corrupt American capitalists. Obviously some forms of humor do not translate well.

The Onion is complete satire.

Funny, hilarious, often quite witty...but complete fabrications.

I think they're all spoofs. Acourse some things don't require a lot of tweaking to make into farces.

The Onion is completely true, or at least as true as Fox News.
