Hi! Probably not as the mouth is sewed shut in most cases. The embalming procedure is more complicated and in most cases all openings are sewn shut. I wouldn't worry about it, you will probably never have to be concerned about it in your lifetime. However, if this is truly important, mention this to your parents or whomever, if you meet an early demise, what you wishes are. I think they will probably laugh and tell you not to worry about it. It Depends on how you die. If you are murdered, commit suicide, die in a motor vehicle collision, drug intoxication, other unexplained deaths or are 17 and under and don't die under the care of a physician for cancer or other known disease, you most likely will receive a procedure called an autopsy. This is an examination where you are cut open and all your internal organs dissected to find the cause of death. During the autopsy all medical devices like pins, rods, breast implants, pace makers, and yes even your braces are removed. If you don't receive an autopsy, and go straight to a funeral home, your braces are generally left on unless asked to be removed.

Not to bury you, but interestingly they take them off if they're going to cremate you. Guess they don't want people scattering little globs of melted metal.

i would think they would ask whoever was handling the funeral arrangements, like a parent or whatnot.
also, i think it would depend on what they were doing with you after you die. if you were being buried, sure leave them, but if your being cremated, they might need them off.

Strange question. Why would they take them off of you? There'd be no reason for your family to pay to have someone take them off of you. Besides, they sew your mouth shut anyway. Now, if they were made of gold or diamonds then they'd probably take them off.

Who knows..? One thing that I have wondered about: If you get breast implants, what happens to them once you die? Silicon doesnt just decompose like the rest of you =o
