Difficult scriptures to adhere to and follow, gives ideas/examples of us versus them mentallities, antagonises the world in which we live in; with all of it's supposed gifts like discernment, saving you from hell, enlightenment, better life, all these promises, it still fills you with fear and restriction in how you lead your life, so techically you can't relax, let go, and think about things like going to rock concerts, getting drunk, having fun, yadda yadda, without fear or getting punished, teaches you to almost fear the world, because " it was given over to Satan," instead of loving the world.

You might end up trying to kill people who you think are evil "a la Islamics, historic Christianity,".

Bottom line: Religion isn't exactly Barney the Dinosaur. It claims to be loving, but instead of I love you, you love me's, we get 100s of pages of scripture, rules, regulations, fear, and some people like mentioned above MAY become extremists.

God/Religion isn't exactly nice, is it

My idea is, PERHAPS, this world was such a shithole historically (more than likely true) that a bunch of smart intellectuals invented scriptures/bibles/religions, and what not, to help those who are more spirtiual by nature beleive in something above and beyond what their shitty world is.

That's my opinion on the atheist side.

I believe that everything was created by man, because we can't prove otherwise.

I do have a spiritual side which likes to beileve more, but I'm too cynical and just not dumb enough to believe that anything OTHER than man created everything we see around us.

I mean we created civilizations, countries, cars, medicine, computers and everything else, we're pretty much brilliant, so why couldn't we have also constructed religions?

Think about it.

ANy hollywood writer can come up with this stuff in a week if they had to.

God is not religion. The Pharisees of Jesus' time were religious, but Jesus jumped all over them for that because they were not godly. Religion is man-made, a type of government if you will.
Not all religions are love based, or even claim to be loving
God desires us to serve and worship Him out of our love for Him, and will not force anyone to serve Him.
Is God nice? Well, He's just, merciful, patient, comforting, loving, and much more. I've experienced all those things from Him.
Are court systems aren't always nice, but they are needed.

Some are not following their faith properly

You are confusing the literal teachings with the flawed implementation. The doctrine may say " love thy enemy" while the practitioner cuts down the unbeliever.

It is not the fault of the religion, it is the people who are following it. Take the religion away, and the person would still be a bloodthirsty savage, he would just need a new excuse to kill someone

What are you talking about? Christianity is the only religion that truly has anything to do with the Lord. There are thousands of manmade religions spread across the earth including some that claim they follow God, but Christianity is the only true religion.

God is loving if you do what God says to do. God is also the Judge of all mankind. God is also the Creator of all mankind.
As a loving Father God wants the best for us, but God has no problem with disciplining us when we get out of line.

God said, "If you love Me, keep my commandments."

Adam and Eve chose Satan's world of sin instead of God's world of love. You live in a sinful world.

You are correct--Religion is not like Barney the Dinosaur. Religions are created by human beings, and they are all comprised of rules meant to govern the masses and attempt to direct faith.

Faith is the core ideal upon which all religions are based. Faith is not created by people; it is inherent in us.

If we would listen more to our faith instead of to our religions, the conflicts you mentioned above would diminish.

One word: MAN...

Once you get ManKind ( an oxymoron ) in the equation, things get perverted.

The Q'ran is a perversion written by a pervert...

The Holy Bible has a New Testament. The Q'ran needs one.

GOD is loving.

PEOPLE are not. PEOPLE become extremists. GOD does not.

How difficult is it to follow this?
Love God. Love others. Treat them as you want to be treated.
Why do you think that is so very hard?

Bottom line: YOU don't get it.
