I have the "big guns" software, but I find that I keep going back to Irfanview for a lot of my everyday work. It's free, simple to use, powerful, handles almost all formats (including .nef), and (did I mention it?) FREE.

You can load the photo, crop, resize and save it in a .jpg quality that is completely variable.

Good luck!

Use Photoshop.

What are your settings on your camera? What are the megapixels? If the quality is set to medium, chances are, you're well within the limits.

If this is a film camera, you'll have to scan it in, and use Photoshop to make sure it's at the requirements.

You need to re-size in Photoshop.

Go to your menu and select
Image - Image size - pixel width - etc.

You can alter the size by measurements, pixel width or percentage.

to edit / optimie for web etc..

you mean 320 x 200 right ?

or 1024 x 768?

you can change the DPI and that will take up less space.
