I'd like to hear where you were, how the Lord touched you and what was happening when you were saved. Tell me about it, I think all of us have a great story. I like to read the Bible and the account Paul gave of his. So I thought I'd ask you about yours.
If your an atheist I don't want your sinde remarks, please I'm talking to my brothers and sisters in christ.
God bless you Brothers and Sisters, I wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving.

Oh my goodness washed clean by his blood, that is the most beautiful thing. I am crying and my heart has been so richly blessed by your poem. Keep writing things like that. You could be a blessing to the world if your poems were published.

Yes.
I once was lost, but now I am found.
Was blind, but now I see.
How the Lord comes into our lives is a remarkable story, no matter who it is.
God knocked on the door of my heart for years, but I wasnt paying attention, and too focused on myself.
Finally, I was so miserable because I had been rejected by my family, had a child while not married, was treated like dirt by my boyfriend. The only time I didnt do drugs or drink was when I was sleeping.
Finally, God started pounding on my heart. I finally started listening, and opened up my heart to him. I have a poem that I wrote that I would like to share with you, that I wrote a couple of months ago that describes how I came to the Lord.
My First Love
Always prided myself in being self reliant
I didn’t need anybody
being hateful and bitter became a part of who I was
just take care of yourself became my motto
my past haunted me
shattering my heart beyond repair
drugs and alcohol became more important
than food or sleep
trying to just survive
became an everyday thing
trying to fill that emptiness in my heart
with things from this world
became an hour to hour occurance
trying to find the meaning of my life
was a minute to minute ritual
‘friend’ had no meaning to me
for I didn’t know what a real one was
nor did I care anymore
guys came and went
they used and moved on
‘love’ had no meaning either
for even my family had rejected me
light was no longer in view
darkness was overtaking me
suffocating me, didn’t know which way
was up anymore
I began reaching out in the dark
trying to take ahold of something to
take me out of here
to give me something worth living for
in the darkness, out of the stillness
I heard a soft, gentle voice
calling my name
“My child, fear not, for I am here with you
always, to the end of the age.
I love you, and always have,
oh please, wont you let me into
your heart? I can show you the meaning
of love, of true friendship, and of real life.
Will you let me into your life?
Will you give me control?
I can repair your heart,
And show you what real love is.
I am holding out my hand,
wont you take ahold of it?”
I reached out and took ahold
with all that was in me
“Ok, God, I am giving you my life, my heart,
please, show me this love worth living for.
His love caught me by surprise,
creating a spark inside of me,
slowly melting my hard heart,
and filling me with such an incredible warmth
that it took my breath away
before I knew it,
I was on my knees
crying out
before the God of the universe
who alone could calm the raging storm inside of me
letting go, and giving him control
His love filled that emptiness inside of me
His hope restored me
now I know what a true friend is
for I found one in Jesus
He alone was the one who could set me free
from the burdens and hurts
of my haunting past
now I know what true love is
for I found it in God
He will never leave me nor forsake me
His love is everlasting
He alone replaced my hateful heart
and gave me one of love and compassion
He showed me the light
and gave me a life worth living for
now I can truly say,
He is my first love
and he will be my last love.

I had a very good one that grew over time, and was embellished to include the supernatural.
Looking back, I am ashamed of the embellishments. I thought that I was helping to build faith in others by doing it, and it helped me build up my own faith as well.
I think that if most Christians who have been around for a while with a conversion story are honest, they will admit there are parts that have been attributed to the supernatural that could really have been coincidence or that have been embellished to become supernatural.
Unfortunately my need to believe was more important than my need for honesty.
That has changed now.

I had my own "Damascus Road" experience, which is really too long to post here and the greatness of it isn't so much the event itself (although I don't mean to imply it wasn't great), but the results. I'm one of those that exemplify the meaning of "new creation"
God bless you too - and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

The Lord called me into His saving grace in April of 2000....at about 11:30 at night in front of the TV.
I was watching the 700 Club.....and Gordon Robertson offered the prayer of salvation.
I had been watching for months....and kept switching the channel every time the salvation prayer was offered.....I kept saying, "It's not for me"
Then one night.....God said, "Yes it is"
And I have been growing in grace ever since.......praise God!

I converted to theism when I woke up with my eyes closed after a suicide attempt. I couldnt open my eyes and I couldnt hear anything. Maybe it was just a bad dream, but I don't think so.

I don't know if it's a 'great' story, but it's a true story.
