I believe that the only true need for an abortion is in the case of rape or to save a mother's life.

To save the mothers life, which is extremely rare.

I think that a mother should not be alone to make this sort of decision. I think counseling ect is important. I believe each case is different and each woman is different. What I do not believe in is abortion as a birth control method. I do not believe it is up to you or me to decide. I think we have a lot of unwanted moms and dads. Then again we have men and women out there who can not have babies. Blue (the cat) says this issue has been and continues to be a problem. Because the society we live in just can not come to terms with the fact that it is an individuals decision to make. The problem comes about when the rest of the population must pay the consequences for that individuals decision. Good luck with your specific reasons for abortion. Think about it half our society still can not accept the death penalty.

ask a child who was born from a rape - Abortion is NEVER ok. If it was between saving the mother or saving the baby, that is up the the individual family. But I don't think this is considered what most people view as "abortion".

We now live in a society where contraception is widely and mostly freely available, but on the odd occasion when the consenting adults make a mistake and did not intend to get pregnant there must be an escape route.

The other options are back-street abortions that used to happen and were highly dangerous, or forcing someone to have the child and then dealing with the problems that causes.

Thank your luck that you were born in this age and not before, when we have choices about these things.

YOU..... ARE.... WRONG!

The Statistics from the Planned Parenthood.... IS THAT THERE ARE ONLY ABOUT....12-Rape Abortions PERFORMED A YEAR!

HOW THEN CAN ONE.... JUSTIFY THE OVER 35-MILLION ABORTIONS.....?

In the case of the Mothers LIFE.... an Ectopic Pregnancy can Kill the Mother and is therefore justified.

ALL OTHERS ARE ...... MURDERS OF CONVINCE!

Thanks for Asking ! RR

It shouldn't be used as a form of birth control, but I think it is necessary as there have been other cases as well where the mother leaves the child in a dumpster or garbage can, the abusive husband kills it etc... it is better to take the egg/sperm than it is to give birth and then torture by starvation or worse. If the mother is unstable and knows it, its a choice she should have. I do believe it is necessary in many cases not just rape. There are alot of unstable and unfit people out there and just because they know how to get pregnant doesn't mean they're responsible enough to care for a child. Some of them know they're not.

In case of rape- remember it was the rapists fault not the babies. And in the rare occasion of saving a mother's life- I know of a few women who were told that if they did not have an abortion- they would die- for your information, those few women are still alive , and so are their children.

Only in the case of saving the mother's life. Otherwise, the woman should take responsibility for the life she created. Just because she may be inconvenienced doesn't justify killing her baby. Obviously that baby didn't ask to be created, so why should the baby be murdered for something out of his/her control? The mother is smart enough to know the chance of pregnancy is possible.

Abortion is murder...plain and simple...i think it's ok(maybe) to save the mother's life...but not in a rape...i mean if u tried to murder a grown man like myself that would be bad...but at least i could fight back or i could run or something...a baby in the womb has no way to fight back and no where to run...so in a way abortion is more heartless than murder...

I believe there are cases where abortion is a necessity, and there are also cases where it is just a want. In either case, it is a woman's right to choose for herself what she wants to do to her own body.

Why women have abortions
1% of all abortions occur because of rape or incest; 6% of abortions occur because of potential health problems regarding either the mother or child, and 93% of all abortions occur for social reasons (i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient).

the other millions are for no reason other than selfishness
