Its' correct name is the Tanakh :)
As for it being 'wrong' - it was good enough for Jesus! He was a devout Jew and he never changed religion.
It's actually rather irritating to those of us that are Jewish, the way some people repeatedly question the validity of our bible. Those who don't follow it, that is your right, absolutely; and to quote the late and great Irish comedian Dave Allen: 'May your G-d be with you'.
But as Jews, some of us do still believe in the Tanakh. So it would be really nice if people would remember that. :)

No. To be sure, the Old Testament is difficult. You must understand, that many times it is a record of what humans did in a specific situation.

There had to be something in the genes of the Canaanites for God to say to destroy them all. There had to be something in the genes of the pre-flood people for God to destroy them all except Noah who was perfect in his generation. Noah either had something or he didn't have something that was different from the others. Some believe the mixing of humans with fallen angels was the reason God destroyed everyone pre-flood except Noah and his family.
It is also believed since Jesus said the latter days would be like the days of Noah that these fallen angels are mixing with humans again. UFO's seem to be mutilating animals and taking people hostage for awhile. They produce evil people and wickedness was all around during Noah's day.

The Bible is full of contraictions and things that make no sense in this day and age---especially the Old Testament.
On top of that, there are several interpretations of nearly every passage in the Bible.
Live a good life and use your brain.

The entire word of God must be observed:
All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.
We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one. But we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us intellectual capacity that we may gain the knowledge of the true one. And we are in union with the true one, by means of his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and life everlasting.
