Spelling and good vision are both good for pilots. I assume the 6/12 is a Jaeger reading for distance acuities. You should call whatever academy you are looking into and ask them for the requirements for acuity. I am sure the different services vary.

Depends on the local regulations where you live.

In Canada, where I live, if you have at least 20/30 vision in at least one eye, with or without glasses, you may qualify for certain types of private pilot's license. There are many other requirements besides vision and the various categories of licence have different requirements.

Ask a flight school near you about the reguirements for your country.
