One word;
Furminator.
Their brush works WONDERS and they also have shampoo to help with shedding.

See that picture with the Golden Retriever and all the hair? It's real. I have 4 Pit Bulls, a Doberman and a Pit Bull X Rottweiler and it worked like that on ALL of them. It can be used for both short and long hair breeds.
You also might think about changing his diet. If he is eating anything like Iams, Eukanuba, Pedigree, Purina, Kibbles & Bits, or anything else you find in a grocery store, you should change him to a premium brand such as Innova, EVO, Wellness, Wellness CORE, GO! Natural, Taste of the Wild, Orijen, Canidae, Blue Buffalo, Artemis, Merrick, Fromms, etc.
Good luck and I hope I helped. =)
*The Furminator brush should be available at your local pet store. If not, there are lots available on ebay all the time.

You need to groom him/her regularly at least every other day if he sheds a lot. Believe me with some breeds that's the only way! You should brush and comb and then wipe him/her over with a cloth (one of the dusters that attracts dirt and fibres works best) I have GSD's and they are the heaviest shedders I know and it's ALL the time....... just the price I have to pay to keep my favourite breed.
Adding oil or raw eggs to the diet will improve the look of the coat but it doesn't stop the shedding. Some breeds shed all year round others only twice a year. If the house is heated don't put his bed near a radiator, that will increase the shedding!
Good luck, at least he's only little!
edit: Wow take a look at 'Ruthless's link' I've got to have one of those!!!!

There are these brushes they just brought in to superpet (now petsmart since the takeover) that work SO WELL. I wish I knew the name, but it escapes me. Anyways, they are pretty expensive (for a medium to small breed, probably $35), but it just pulls out the shedding undercoat SO WELL. My friend had a collie that just shed like a madman, and resorted to buying the brush (which was $50 for a large size) and it pulled out more hair than she knew! She said that it really cut back on the shedding if she brushed her with that brush twice a week, and upkept it with daily brushings inbetween with a regular brush.
Contact your groomer to see what type of brush would work best to groom and reduce shedding in your fox :)
EDIT:
Scrolling up I saw "Furminator" That is the brush I meant :)

ALL dogs shed! There's no such thing as a "non shedding" dog. Puppies do shed their puppy coat as the adult coat grows in.. but your dog is not "non-shedding" and never will be. Even poodles and bichons both shed to some degree.

A 30 minute daily brushing with a curry comb.
You may want to take to a groomer ask them to bath, blow dry and brush it ( what I know as a total blow out) this will get rid of the main lot for now then keep up with the daily brushing. Curry brush is the best for the short hair dogs.

Yes - a brush. Adding raw egg and olive oil to his diet will make his coat look glossier but it won't keep him from shedding. Dogs don't shed because of dry skin problems, they just shed because it's natural. To avoid getting fur all over your carpet and furniture, sit your dog down and BRUSH. Be thorough. You'd be surprised at how much loose fur there is.
Besides getting rid of all the loose fur on your dog, brushing also helps stimulate the production of natural oils in your dog's skin.

I would go with daily brushing and a coat supplement like fish oil tablets or brewer's yeast tablets. I don't know about the raw eggs - commercially available chicken eggs have a fairly high risk of salmonella if eaten raw, as opposed to wild bird eggs that wild canids (foxes, coyotes) would regularly consume.

try putting a little olive oil in his food every day to help with dry skin and get one of those grooming brushes that gets right into the fur and pulls out the hair from under neath. my husky sheds a lot too. i could make blankets for every one on here lol.it is a pain at times but hairy dogs shed a couple of times a year and we just have to keep up on it.a bath every month to 6 weeks will help get rid of loose hair also.get some dog conditioner for after his shampoo so the grooming will be easier. good luck.

Grooming and regular brushing gets to loose hairs before they get all over your house. If he has bald or thin patches it may be a sign of a skin condition.

daily brushings. you cant really stop him from shedding, because this could be unhealthy. also, make sure he is getting regular baths so that his coat is nice and healthy. the regular brushings pull out all that old fur thats falling out on its own, and keep it from getting all over your house. it also promotes healthy coats and distributes the oils from the skin. good luck!
