Because they are let in. Despite the fact that now many decent hard-working Irish people can no longer find employment. The nightlife in Ireland is almost non-existent and you cannot talk to or have a joke with strangers anymore as all you will get is a scowl and someone responding in Polish. Why do all the Eastern Europeanns look so damn bad tempered all the time. Do they not know how to smile in Poland??!

Firstly seeing as we are a member of the EU it allows all citizens of EU countries to travel and work within the EU freely.

Also the wages that they earn can pull their families out of poverty in their home countries.

I have nothing against the foreign nationals coming here to work as long as they abide by our culture and customs.
Many of them are doing jobs that a lot of Irish people wont (e.g cleaners) and are there for a link in the community.

As long as they support our economy we should not have a problem with them, its the ones sponging off the government and claiming every and any benefit they can get that we should watch.

Though I do believe there should be some regulation as to who comes into the country especially as the EU opens up to more countries, there will have to be some reform and regulations made

Wow!! Hummingbird!

If you replace foreigners with Mexicans and Ireland with the USA, you'd sound like us over here.

There are alot of jobs here in the building industry etc. but the prices here are very high and foreigners get minimum wage, although this is alot in their country. They also come because the people are so friendly!

Because there are so many employers who are tight and would prefer to have two people instead of one but don't want to have to pay two people a proper wage. Especially in the hotel and catering industry!

these 'foreigners' I guess are travelling to Ireland in the hope of getting work. I would assume that they are European nationals and of course should be made welcome in our country.

Maybe we shouldn't forget that the Irish used to immigrate in huge numbers - is USA, Canada, England, Scotland, Australia etc whingeing about this?
