I have been with World Vision for over ten years now, I believe they do a good job, its definitely the best place to sponsor a child, you get updates and pictures and even their grade cards, so they keep you well informed. Good luck and God Bless YOU!!!

We are on our third World Vision sponsored child. The first one that we sponsored was a boy about the same age as our boys. We had a wonderful relationship with him via letters, etc. Unfortunately, (or perhaps fortunately) his family moved out of the project and were no longer elgible for World Vision services because they did not service where they moved.
World Vision is a wonderful orgainzation that does a lot of good in the lives of children and their families. When you sponsor a child, you not only help that child, you help with the education and health system of a family and their community. You will get an annual update on the child including his/her health and education status. If you write to your child, they will write back (with the help of an adult relative or teacher if needed) and the letter will be translated for you. My experience is that this is the best way to "get your money worth" in the assurance that your sponsorship is doing what you intend -- helping the child and their community.

I too have sponsored children through World Vision and still do. I agree with the other posters about what they are doing.

I've also volunteered overseas with World Vision, and saw several of their projects in the Middle East and a couple of countries in Africa. I was impressed with what they are doing, especially that they focus on trying to help the communities become self-sustaining.

I've also heard other sponsors complain about the amount of mail they get from World Vision, asking for more money. Strange that I haven't had that happen to me. I also know that some asked to be taken off their mailing list for donation requests, but still get the info on their child and a great magazine called 'Child View' that each sponsor receives. Apparently one has to be persistent and ask a few times to get off their donation request list but eventually it should happen.

I have four sponsored children through World Vision. The children have benefited greatly through this programme. It is beneficial to the whole community. They receive medical care, education, water purification, etc. I know that the children are benefiting from the service because we write back and forth. I also send them small token gifts and they have written me back to tell me that they received them and how much they are benefiting from the programme. I also receive a yearly report from World Vision about how they are doing health wise and at school.
I am 100% sure that this is a Christian operation and that their goal is to benefit others in third world countries.

The only negative is that the more you give, the more they ask for. I have recieved a lot of mail from them asking for more contributions.
