John taught "God is love" in his first epistle.
1 John 4:8: Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:16: And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

Bruce

i think you have it backwards.. haha
where does it say god is a jealous god???
He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love. By this the love of God was made manifest in our case, because God sent forth his only-begotten Son into the world that we might gain life through him. The love is in this respect, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent forth his Son as a propitiatory sacrifice for our sins."—1 John 4:8-10.

There are many but the here are a few.
John 3:16- GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON , THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.
2 Chronicles 6:14
He said: "O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth—you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.
Read the book of 1 John. A matter of fact the whole Bible points to His love

I John 4:8: The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
I John 4:16: We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

"God is a jealous God"?
Then I'm glad I haven't told him about all the other "gods" in my life. Although I'm an atheist, I really don't want to take the chance of pissing off anyone who controls lightning.

1Jn 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
1Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1Jn 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.
1Jn 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
1Jn 4:21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
