The Old Testament tells us all about God being a jealous God...it is written into the 10 Commandments as well
"For I am a jealous God and shall brook no others before me."

John taught "God is love" in his first epistle.
1 John 4:8: Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:16: And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love.
