I remember a radio episode where Howard Stern said his mother-in-law always did this in his kitchen when he had prepared some microbiotic dish or diet combination of food in a bowl that she had never heard of and just HAD to know what it was. But she stuck her big nose over it...AS IF THIS WERE HER TERRITORY TO GO SNOOPING! Ha! Howard ranted about that for 10 minutes, it was kinda funny because I could relate. We have sneeze guards at salad bars specifically so people won't go breathing all over the food. Maybe we should invent personal sneeze guards to hang from our necks to prevent snoopy mother-in-laws and other busy bodies from sticking their big probosces over our food. Do you have someone like this in your home? How do you deal with it? What is that instinct that makes people in a civilized society still want to stick their faces so close to the food? It's smell, right? WELL DON'T GO SNIFFING MY FOOD, O.K.? SNIFF YOUR OWN! Ha! I'm joking here. But maybe not really.
