With all this criticism of "mega churches" have we forgot that the Roman Catholic church was the first "mega church" who defrauded its flock and whose priest's debauchery made Rasputin look like a saint?

they have stole millions of dollars and used it sinfully against the hopes of those that gave
Paying off accusers of sick priests
buying land and never using.
living lavishly as bishops and popes.
sinful greedy cult

I am far from Roman Catholic, but even I find this question disturbing. I don't agree with many of the tenets of the RC faith (having been RC the first 16 yrs of my life), however I also believe that blatent criticism does not afford anyone the opportunity for a civil tone to disagreement and debate and is instead a very negative witness.

Unlike most "mega-churches", the Catholic Church will hold services on Sunday when the Sunday is Christmas Day. The Catholic Church also still has services on Wednesday if the Wednesday is Halloween.
"Mega-churches" have cancelled church services when they thought not enough people would show up. I guess they felt that the potential small amount of monetery collection did not justify worshipping God.

mega churches have not stood the test of time, when they do you can compare them to the Rcc. they will not for they are based upon a single man and his ability to lead a flock. the Rcc is the ability of a group of learned & spiritual men & women who study, pray and teach. just like in every family there will be turmoil, sin and vile acts. this happened with Christ's own apostles - look at Jude, Peter, Thomas... we ALL fall short of the glory of God - all we can do is strive to be more filled with Christian Charity.

They still are "The Church" and I really don't feel they are any better than they ever were.
