NYC is a all paid dept. If you are looking to become a volunteer you must go out of the city where there is a small town that can't afford to paid their firefighters.

As he said FDNY is all paid. Check suburban areas, and rural districts that can use the help. The problem you may encounter is that you need to live in the Fire District so you can respond. Good Luck.
