The NIV is a dynamic equivalent, that is, a thought for thought translation while the KJV is a word for word translation. It appears that the Reina Valera is closer to the NIV than the KJV.

The 1960 Reina-Valera Revision, published by the American Bible Society put the Spanish Bible into easily understood language and won quick acceptance in the Spanish-speaking world. Most Spanish-speaking Christians rely on one version of the Bible, the Reina-Valera, which was first published in 1569, forty-two years before the King James Version.

I believe it's closer to the NIV.

The NIV began production around that time (1958-1960).....and I think a Spanish version of it was produced in or around the same time.

It is like KJV but Reina Valera use the name "Jehova" but in KJV don´t use it, also in Malachi 3:1 use "angel del pacto (ANgel of covenant) " referring to Jesus and KJV remove it to eliminate the proof that Jesus is the angel that God sent to earth.

by the way all angels are sons of God (Job 1:6 and 2:1) and Jesus is the first one (Colossians 1:15-17)

"ángel del pacto" "messenger of the covenant" in the original text ( I saw it ) says angel but they eliminate it.
