The basic premise that man was created to rule over beasts is just a wishful supposition or a convenient reason to rule over them. All creature who inherit the earth should have equal rights in sharing it and living in harmony with each other. Therefore, whether a man kills a beast or otherwise,it's unnatural and against the laws of the nature.

It was never easy for beasts to kill a man even before guns and spears were around - the thumb and the brain is the best thing about man

He created us to rule over the beasts of the earth. He didn't create us as robo-rulers who could roam the earth with arrogance and no need for common sense.

Genesis 9:5 and surely the blood of your lives will I require. At the hand of every animal will I require it, and at the hand of man. At the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

God demands that if an animal kills a man that it should be killed. In any event, the earth is still under a curse but when the new earth comes man will rule over animals with no fear. In the following passage God gives us a picture of what it will be like when Jesus returns and rules over the earth in person.

Isaiah 11:1 And a Shoot goes out from the stump of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. 2 And the Spirit of Jehovah shall rest on Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah. 3 And He is made to breathe in the fear of Jehovah. And He shall not judge according to the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears. 4 But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and shall decide with uprightness for the meek of the earth. And He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. 5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of His loins, and faithfulness the girdle of His heart.

6 Also the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the cub lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 And the suckling child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea.

10 And in that day there shall be the Root of Jesse standing for a banner of the people; to Him the nations shall seek; and His resting place shall be glorious.

Jesse is the father of King David and Jesus is here referred to as a "shoot" or "root" of Jesse.

I think man does quite well (too well) at killing "beasts." God created man to take care of beasts, not to drive them into extinction. What we're doing now, reintroducing Wolves to Yellowstone dispite farmers protests, and reintroducing coyotes to Pennsylvania, make God happy.

Having dominion does not mean without a battle sometimes. Nor does it mean abuse. Man has been able to bring every animal into subjection to him. It is man himself that is hard to tame, especialy the tongue!

(James 3:7-8) "For every kind [species] of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed 0or brought into subjection, even if by force] , and hath been tamed of mankind: {8} But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison."

And "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." (Mt. 12:34).

(Eph 5:18-20) "... be filled with the Spirit; {19} Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; {20} Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;"

Man's dominion over beast was part of the paradisaic condition that existed before they disobeyed God. Everything went downhill after that.

We got spears, bows, and arrows. Clever traps and such.

Just like any ruler though, they are subject to harm once in awhile by those they rule over. ;-)

We aren't GOD over the animals.

God didn't create anything. It's called evolution and the reason animals kill men (and women) is out of instinct and for their own protection. We have the ability to reason and that's why we shouldn't senselessly kill animals.

A Divine fact and the main media will in time get it as important information, "The Pope’s failure to point any of those scandals in his handle to the U.N. or his encyclical is itself scandalous. this is an argument nicely worth pursuing by potential of the media, rather the conservative and Catholic media.""
