Mary cannot forgive our sins beacuse Mary is not God.
Mary was a human being, not a deity. God chose her to be the mother of Jesus because He found favor with her, but this does not give us reason to pray to her. Infact, God is angry when anyone/anything besides Him is prayed to because He is the only God. There are many instances in the Bible where God is angry because people were worshipping other gods. So, pray to The Lord only because He is the only way to get to Heaven - not through Mary or any of the saints.

Although ordinary people can forgive one another, eternal forgiveness of sins is what only God can do, for when people sin, they offend both man and God:

Lu 5:21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

Also, in due course, Mary died, and there is no biblical record of her being assumed into heaven. If she had been, I am sure Scripture would have recorded it. Sorry, Catholics, but that's what I believe because I happen to be Protestant and you can't make me believe your things.

So, if Mary died with the rest of the Christian saints (for she was, we believe, truly one of Christ's disciples), then she is in Paradise waiting for the resurrection of the Christian dead. However, to pray to her is wrong (sorry, Catholics, but this is my opinion again) because the Bible forbids all contact with those who have died (Luke 16:26), and it is only witches that try this.

So, as I see it, Mary can neither forgive sins, nor pass them on to the Father to do so, for she is not seated in Heaven with him and it is wrong to make contact with the dead, whether or not in Christ.

'We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous, and he is the propitiation for our sins'. I John 2:1-2. That means ALL our sins.

Mary cannot forgive any sins. God allowed His Son Jesus to be our only mediator between us and God, He prays on behalf of us to the Father and we are allowed to come straight to God through Christ to pray to Him. We don't need an earthly priest or have to pray to Mary, as christians we can have direct access to God.

Mary was the Mother of God, the Theotokos. The "God bearer."

She was a great woman and one most favored to be chosen by God to be the vessel for Our Lord Incarnate.

The Virgin was very blessed but she died and is in heaven like all born again Christians, all of us our Saints. She can hear no prayers nor forgive no sins.

None. That is not Mary's role. Never was. The only means for forgiveness of sin is Jesus Christ.

None- she could forgive only those committed against her personally (as we all can, too)

But no, only God should be prayed to for forgiveness of sins.

Far be it from me to defend Catholics on this, but a majority of them don't pray to Mary for forgiveness, they pray for her to intercede on their behalf.

Having said that, I still don't understand that logic. If I want a job at XYZ, Inc. and I know the CEO and his advisor, why would I ask the advisor to speak to the CEO on my behalf? I'd be nuts not to go straight to the CEO, wouldn't I?

Biblically, Jesus himself taught us how to pray and there's not a thing in there about praying to Moses or Isaiah or even his earthly mother to intercede on our behalf.

As for me, I'll follow Christ's example, not that of Pope Paul IV and his band of anti-reformation sycophants, becuase that is the earlist documentation of the line "Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death" was added (1562).

Mary does not forgive sins.

We pray to her in order to ask her to pray for us.

Catholics have a much fuller understanding of prayer. it is more than just asking for stuff or sins to be forgiven.

Mary cannot forgive sins.

Please refer to the Book of John and the story of the wedding at Cana. The host ran out of wine. He (the host) took his problem to Mary. Mary then asked her Son for help. Mary then told the host to do what He (Jesus) tells you.

We can bring our problems to Mary as if bringing our problems to our mother. Mary can help bring us closer to her Son. We must do what Jesus tells us.
