The flower has a scent to attract insects or animals to it to spread pollen or to attract pollen.

The flower has a scent because it ejects micro particulates into the atmosphere that you breath in that trigger an olfactory responce once these particles come in contact with your system.

Everything has a scent, some stronger than others, some enjoyable some not.

everything has a distinct smell, it is a way of identifing a person, place, or thing, not just flowers.
