Camp in the living room. Push all the furniture around to support sheets to make a tent. Get out the sleeping bags(or make pallets with blankets and pillows), and flashlights. Keep a light on in the bathroom, but turn all the other lights off. Plan snacks and food according to what you already have, for instance if you have hot dogs or chili or soup, you can use the kitchen to fix it, but then bring it back to the "campsite" to eat. Play games, play cards, make popcorn, sing, read books out loud, tell scary stories. Tell them all about what you did as a boy. Bundle up and go on a "hike" outside, and keep up the camping fantasy by having a scavager hunt. Be silly with them, say things like "run for your lives there's a big black bear or a pack of wolves" and then run off(don't leave them behind) waving your hands and screaming like a banshee. Howl like wolves, bay at the moon. Drink water out of canteens or out of the facet. Sleep in your tent, no one takes bathes, unless you have a bathtub where they can go "swimming". Make somores (graham crackers, chocolate and marshmellows) in the microwave. Be pirates, be castaways. The carpet is the ocean and you are about to be eaten by the giant squid. Oh and take a blood(ketchup) oath that what happens that weekend remains a secret, and no one tells mom, but spend plenty of time making knowing looks and maybe make some secret words or hand signals that only you and kids know. They will love the conspiracy.
It doesn't matter what you do with your kids, what matters is spending every minute with them, because when you give them your time, they recognize that they mean everything to you. Just don't expect to be thanked until they are about 25.

Don't worry about it too much. Most important thing, you are all together. The best thing is ask them, what would they like to do for instance. They will give you an idea. At the same time, their choice, so guaranteed of enjoyment for them. Make sure it is something not dangerous or something that will not harm themselves. Food idea? Well Something easy to prefer. Sandwiches with their favourite filings. Maybe chips and nuggets. Fruits and juices and lots of water.
Have a breather ..... and just play any good stuff films. If you are good with story telling, well it is very good idea in deed. Before you knew it the day is over. Enjoy them while they are young because that's the best, cutest, nicest, sweet naughty bit of their life. Have fun with the kids.

was going to say kite flying til i saw ur bit underneath about the weather! bring the outdoors in... have a picnic in the lounge room (just use ur normal food, but irt appears more exciting if u whack it in a basket and lay a blanket down!).. send them on an indoor treasure hunt.. hide some items (or lollies) with treasure maps.. look up 'team building games on the net.. theres some great ones to play that get everyone laughing. board games are cool, or my favourite when i was a kid was getting a peice of paper (or several), write a story line, fold it over so the next person cant see it, and get everyone to do this until the page is filled.. or just do what i do... turn the music up really loud (preferably something the kids like) and clean the house together while dancing

Hmm difficult question. Also depends on what ages your childern are.
But try and stay in if the weather is bad and the money is low. There are plenty of things to do in the house..
You have a computer... browse the internet and find some internet games? or do you have any board games?
maybe take a walk in the park if its dry.
get a dvd out and settle down to some tele and a blanket.
Try and spend some bonding time with them, show them your love.

Hi there - games (do people still do this??) - though i guess kids are more used to video games, cards, crafts (painting is easy), renting films.
Tent in the backyard (or living room).
Play! Just be with them. What you do is less important than your and the kids' enjoyment of it. Even watching TV can be fun if you're cracking jokes together (rather than staring silently at the screen).

One day you can do a pajama party, where everyone stays in their pajamas all day and play board games.
You can do a movie day....rent enough movies for all day, make popcorn, hot chocolate, and pizza for supper.
Don't know how old the kids are, but one day can be cleaning day. Even a toddler can help with the dusting or picking up.

Since christmas is only weeks away, you could spend time with them decorating your house or have them help you fill out christmas cards (you don't have to sent them yet, just have them help get them ready).
Rent some movies and make popcorn. Play a boardgame or cards. Clean your house, have them help you make cookies.......... There's all kinds of stuff to spend time with them that you could do. It's really not what you do that is important, it's that your with them communicating and interacting with them that is important. They need to know that you care that they are around and you want to be doing things with them.
