I would like to stay in the UK and stay in a static caravan over christmas. most sites want £1000. i want to pay about £200.

christmas and new year are peak time i'm afraid - you're unlikely to find anything habitable for that sort of price
i'm doing something similar - finding a cottage for me and my friends to stay together over new year. the average price was between £1000 and 2000! we managed to find a tiny one for £500, but it took a lot of searching, and we booked early

im not sure you will have much luck..my bf owns a caravan and the site like many other only opens from april to oct.
