I need to accept that we will not able to see the baby till he or she is nine months old.

So obviously you have a computer and if they have one as well both of you get webcams and you can see the baby on your computer, now of course its not the same as being there but its a close second. So go out and buy 2 webcams and send one to your brother. Good Luck!!

Send something that can be passed down in the family, such as a baby ring, or baby bracelet.

There is not much other than phone calls, pictures, or internet that will make the child aware of you right now, but a gift like that will show him/her later in life how you felt.

nothing you write or give it now is going to make a differents to a 9 month old they are just to young...But you could always make a home movie or write letters for them to read when they are old enough so they will know that even thought they were young and you could not be with them that you were still thinking of them and that you loved them...My aunt did that for me when i was new born and i read it when i was old enough and i still have it and i read it from time to time and it makes me feel good to know someone loved me that much,,,,,Good Luck and God Bless!!!
