The catnip plant is native to North America but can be grown elsewhere. See the link below for info. on how to grow your own catnip plants.

EDIT: Cats enjoy valerian as much as they do catnip, so it's worth following up on the advice that Terri also gave.

It's an aclimatized North American prairie plant at this point, so zone 5 and 6 is the best. But you certainly can TRY growing it elsewhere. I know there's some growing in the mountains up in Alaska but it doesn't do too well in wet areas. The plant likes sunny places with poor soil.

hiya!
Well im not sure if there is any in asia, but i know it grows wild around rivers and streams in europe, if its valeriana root were talking about(cats are crazy for it, and the root stinks real bad lol), I think it is, but my english could use an upgrade lol.

Im not sure if this actually helps im sorry if it does not.

Maybe try check round murky streams and slow paced rivers, its a tallgrown (1.5 metres) plant with tiny pale pink flowers(in mid summer), if you pick it up and the root smells like catpee, then youve got it, and your cat will loooove the root.

oopsie I just checkedout Micheles link there, and I obviously got the wrong plant very sorry, pls disregard my message.
