How much would it cost to bring a Hummer H2 to the UK from the US? Im not planning on buying this particular verhicle, however, me and my friend are trying to see if it would be cheaper to import a car from america than to than buy it from here in the UK. So we using this as an example.

Does anybody know the shipping and Import Duty cost on it or how to work it out?

Some info:
The Hummer H2 is 2903kg net weight.
Distance from NYC to London is about 5500km
The Hummer H2 Costs around $55,000 in America.
The same Hummer H2 costs around £38,000 in the UK ($78,089.61)
Cheapest shipping possible.

Its definately more expensive to buy a car in the UK so thats why we want to know if its worth buying from abroad.

Thanks

Its only worth importing from the US if you are importing something rare/unavailable in the UK from dealers. Its a bit better if you import from within the EU. All imports have to be to EU/UK spec before they can be put on the road so thats one cost - DVLA Single Vehicle Approval and Road Tax. Then you have import duty and transport costs these are based on the value of the car. You pay import duty

If that is no good contact a shipping company and ask how much it would cost to bring it across as deck cargo.
Also why do you want to import such a gas guzzling poluter as a Hummer?
In reality you will get 4 to 6 miles to the gallon an average of £100 to go from Plymouth to Exeter and back or if you drive just 6,000 miles per annum it will cost you nearly £7,000 per year or £130 per week.

The biggest stumbling block I can see for you is that right hand drive Hummers are not available in the US. Anything you import from here will be left hand drive.
