Can I still collect VA benefits with an Army chapter 5-17 discharge?

Depends on how much time you served before you were medically discharged for medical reasons. If it is a year or less you won't even get any Montgomery GI Bill benefits for schooling and certainly no VA benefit for purchasing a home.
