Wow... so many answers, so little information.
First off you would be overtraining, which essentially means training to a point of detriment.
You will lose energy, strain muscles, become easily injured, immune system would weaken causing you to get sick.
Eventually your body will force you to take the break you need to by simply giving out.
Weight training 6 days a week will actually not help you anymore in strength gains then 3 days a week, in fact it will hurt you.
When you lift weights you cause microtears in muscles, then resting them allows your body to repair those tears making the muscle denser, stronger, and larger. By not taking off the necessary time, you body will not be able to repair those tears, and you will just be tearing it over and over without repair. Meaning eventually you will develop a real muscular tear, or ligament injury (More likely). You will probably quickly develop tendonitis, and essentially will so no noticeable strenght gain.
That is not to say you can't work out with weights 6 days a week by staggering your routine and only doing certain muscle groups. For example:
Day 1: Pecs, Triceps, Lats.
Day 2. Calves, Quads.
Day 3: Back and Biceps,
Day 4: Hamstrings and Glutes
Day 5. Shoulders, Lats, Forearms.
Day 6: Heavy upper and lower abs, lower back,
That gives rest in between working muscle groups, and prevents you from screwing something up.
However keep in mind you are working certain muscle groups with MMA, and doing it 5 days a week is plenty. 7 days a week you can do, but by ensuring that two of those days are light days.
Quite simply your body will need rest, by overtraining you risk peaking in your training cycle (the time when you are the strongest, fastest, and feel the best) long before an actual competetion and coming into the competetion overworked, and wondering why with all of your training you are running out of gas so fast. (Because you overpaced yourself and went beyond your training arc).
Listen to your coaches, they won't lead you astray. At 19 your body is pretty resilient and allows for you to bang a little harder for longer, however keep in mind you still want to do it smart so you get the best gains. You need 2 to 3 days rest between working a muscle group for maximum results.
Also keep in mind diet is a HUGE part of a training routine as well.
Good luck, and losing sucks but it makes you better. Work smart, overtraining will make you more succeptable to injury, make your performance suffer, and will gain no benefit.
You can train 5 to 6 days a week easily, but by staggering and being smart.
Good luck!

Sometimes less is more, your muscles need a break unless you are doing very VERY little every day, fi you lift weights generaly you should give your muscles a break of 1 or two days depending on hard you go
The worst thing that can happon is you can get sick to the point where your budy just says it has had enough and it breaks down and MAKES you stop training
Theres nothing wrong with going hard by the way, its going hard every day and not giving yourself a break that will get you, think about it, most major religions have some kind of day off every week, its there for a reason, because your body and mind needs a good rest now and then so you can recover and get back to doing stuff at 100%
Think about it this way, if you break your toe and keep working out and putting it under stress is it going to get better??? NO its going to get worse, until the point it falls off. The same thing happons with muscles but on a smaller scale and if you dont rest them not only are you going to get weaker than you can be but you will eventually end up with injury
you want to be the best and thats why you have to train very hard but I cant stress enough that you need to take a break as well, just trust me, Iv seen what happons to people when they don't, why not put more intensity into your workouts instead but leave yourself a few days free?

The best: My mother and I were looking through boxes of old pictures, and we found the most hilarious picture of two of my brothers, when they were around 2 and 3, playing in a wadding pool, then stripping off their swim trunks and running around the lawn buck naked. It will probably be the funniest thing people at the Super Bowl party see tomorrow... The worst: I had a tennis lesson and a vocal lesson at 10 and 11 o'clock, respectively, and got really hungry between them. I only had time between them to stop at a Burger King, so I decided to get a regular hamburger, nothing on it, which is reasonably healthy, considering it came from a fast food joint. I told the woman no ketchup or pickles on it, so when I ate it in the car, I thought I wouldn't need the wrapper under it to catch drips, seeing how it's also not greasy because the patty is flame-broiled. Turns out, they put everything I didn't want on it, so a boiling hot, ketchup covered pickle instantly fell out on the first bite, and got all over my jacket, pants, and a little bit of the car.

Hi,
I used to weight train everyday (5 or 6 days a week).
There is nothing wrong with regular training as long as you don't over do it, you could rip a muscle if you are not careful.
What is it you want to achieve?
If you want to look like Mr Universe then you need to train with high weights and low repetitions however, doing this everyday could cause you a lot of problems due to the strain you are putting your body through.
If you really want to weight train more often, then reduce the amount of weight you are lifting.
If you just want to keep fit, then weight train as often as you like, low weights, high repetitions.
Always warm up, I've seen blokes turn up at the gym and without as much as a stretch and they'll pick they heaviest weight they can manage, this will tire you out very quickly and will probably cause a strain injury or sprain.
Another thing to remember is if you do end up looking like Mr Universe, you have got to keep it up or all that muscle will turn to flab and you'll look like Mr Blobby instead!
And last piece of advice......
Anything stronger than an energy drink is a definite NO!
Steroids & other performance enhancing drugs are for mugs, anyone using them is cheating on themselves.
Do it the proper way, it's hard work but satisfying & you'll always know, it was you alone that achieved it!
Hope That Helps
Danny

Nothing might not happen, but there is a greater chance that something will. I lift weights too,but there is no way I'm lifting everyday. You could easily injure your body by over using your muscles. Just because you stop lifting a couple of days doesn't mean that you will lose strength or muscle mass. If anything you will get stronger, because your body has had time to rest, and gain more muscles. There are also other questions about this here on yahoo answers that you might want to check out as well. puttin em in the source section for you.

Well first of all if you lift every day without any rest then your muscles will stop growing in fact they'll actually shrink, dont do more than 5 days a week for weights or it'll mess up your body, you'll lose strength, mass, and be too weak and worn out for MMA training and then get your *** kicked cuz you're not in fight shape, dont go more than 5 and listen to your rtainers or you'll have a very short career

there is nothing wrong with lifting every day of the week as long as you aren't using muscles again before they have fully recovered and for most people this takes 1-2 days. the big deal with ceatine was that it could significantly shorten this time not that it made the benefits from one session of lifting more effective. if you lift before you recover you will slow the rate at which you make gains, until you evntually stop. you will also probably overtrain, which means that not only will you make no strength gains, but you will become depressed, obsessive, and generally a very unpleasant person, there are people who can do it but they arent common

When I was a boy, I lifted barbells every day. I made some progress. Now, we are told that one needs a day of rest between intense workouts. The worst that has happened to me is just slower progress by overtraining. Muscles need time to recuperate.

Actually, whenever you train with weights, you always tear muscle fibers.
It's part of the process.
This is why you have to give yourself 36 to 48 hours to heal those fibers.
If you train in weights every day, you may stun your muscular growth. You are not giving the muscles time to heal. The healing time is when growth occurs.
Don't train weights every day. Cross train.

At 19 you can get away with making a lot of mistakes, true. and overtraining is definitely a mistake......what bad will happen?......at 19, really not much....BUT...you want to optimize your gains, right? So, why not give the muscles time to recover......6 days a week is not TOO bad, but you can't bomb a muscle group continually, every day and see good results.......why not bomb a PARTICULAR group one day (say, legs)...come back next day and bomb your back, then next day shoulders etc etc. The muscles DO need time to recover and grow.........and don't forget...if you're really going at it in the gym, increase your nutrition and fluid intakes........get a good book by Joe Weider with sample workout schedules in it....learn from the pros.
