I think that the cell phone which was a car phone was thought up around 1947 and Att was involved even back then, go figure. LOL When the first cell phones became available, there were a small amount of frequencies, I believe only around 20 or so calls could be made in one area at the same time, we have come a long way. I can't remember the exact number, but it was close to 20. Anyways, that changed when some guy named Cooper in '75, I think, made the handheld cell phone and more inventors got us where we are today. I know there is more, but that is all I can remember. My aunt retired from Motorola and she told me the story long ago. LOL

I remember about 15 years ago when the phones were as big as a shoe box and were very expensive to buy and use. The coverage was limited and there were few service providers. Phones were called 'mobile phones' rather than call phones and they worked on a different system.
Not much, but better than nothing.
