Mayonnaise! My sister got head lice at school some years ago and the old remedy was to cover the hair in Mayonnaise and let it set for 30 to 45 min the was it out. She cover my sisters, both of my brothers, and myself in mayo and let it set. None of us got the heat lice and my sister did not have it anymore!! Its nasty but in my case it worked! Good luck!!!

you need to wet comb every 2 or 3 days.
wash the hair, put in conditioner, which helsp the comb go through the hair, and makes it harder for the evil creatures to hang on! thouroughly comb through all the hair, wiping the comb after each stroke. this will remove the lice but not their eggs, so you ned to repeat evry 2-3 days, so you remove the lice as they hatch but before they get chance to lay. it takes more time but is cheaper and more effective in the long run as it doesnt allow the lice to become immune to treatments, and is the method now recommended by the health service. you can use tea tree oil to help prevent re-infestation, dilute with water and spray throught he hair, or try a teatree conditioner after every wash. tie your daughters hair back in abun or plait, if possible, for school and inform the treachers and any friendfs or relatives, to ensure that she doesnt keep gettimg them back from other people.

PS. lice do become immune to treatments, which is why the health service is discouraging people from using them (also the chemicals in them are very toxic)
lice cannot live without a host. they do not hide out in towels beds or combs. after a couple of minutes off the head they would be dead, as they need warmth.

If you're up to it, use a (very) fine-toothed comb. The hair should be wet so when you comb your daughter's hair, the head lice and even the eggs would stick in the comb.

It's eeky, I know, but it's better if you kill the lice by crushing them. You can do this by tapping the fine-toothed comb onto a clean white cloth. This way, you can easily see the lice and crush them with your nails. Killing the adult lice will decrease their reproduction.

And please wash the combs you use frequently. Head lice is usually acquired through sharing of combs and hats. So advice your daughters not to share or borrow combs from others especially at school.

soak the brushes in amonia, it will not only kill the nits, but eat the possible hiding places in the hair trapped in the bristles, bleach sheets and hang out in sunlight for at least 3 hours after they dry, vaccuum your mattresses (it's really gross when you see what hides in the mattress cover, very eeewwww-GROSS, these things need to be done twice a week for 2 weeks, you should also probably use a delouser which also kills nits and eggs on contact (they don't become immune, they just keep hatching more buggas to deal with).
You also might try a stronger louse/nit/egg killer, 2 weekly treatments should take care of everything.

Use Vosene as your regular shampoo as it is slightly medicated anyway and no more expensive than other shampoo's.

After you wash your hair give it a really good comb (not a brush) and you should get to the end of it.

If you have an outbreak and you treat them properly - then use this method afterwards and you shouldn't get them again.

If you have a pet then wash the pet too - it may be where they are hiding out.

Pah pesky head lice!

My daughter has only had them once but i found that putting loads of tea tree conditioner on and combing through with a double toothed nit comb worked. I went through her (very curly) hair section by section and had to pull some of the eggs out. If you find a live lice then remember to break it or it could reinfest, my hairdresser told me to crack them btween my nails. It took me 2 1/2 hours to check all her hair and i checked every day but had got all of them. I now use a tea tree spray from Bodycare as a repellant and touch wood have never had the little blighters in my house since.

My daughter got lice from one of her class mates. She has long hair, very long hair. I treated her with Nix shampoo and it came back in 2 days. So I talked to a friend of mine and she said use tea tree oil. This is what I did: Buy a bottle of PURE tea tree oil (It's less than $10). Take the amount of shampoo(no conditioner) you use to wash your hair and add 10-15 drops of tea tree oil in it. Massage into wet hair, make sure you massage it into your scalp right down to the end of your hair. Let it sit for 5 minutes and rinse. Do that twice a day. After you are done washing it put conditioner in your hair, take a fine toothed comb and comb hair in sections. It will take awhile but IT'S WORTH IT! You can see the little bugs in stuck in the conditioner in the comb, wipe it off and keep taking stands of hair until you are done your whole head. It's a long process, but in order to completely get rid of lice you need to do it the right way. When your done rinse out the conditioner.

Also, buy a spray bottle and put water in it and add tea tree oil..i'm not sure how much to add..depends on the size of the bottle...but put enough in so you can really smell the tea tree oil. Spray in your hair in the morning and at night. It acts as a lice replant.

Also adding drops of tea tree oil to your bottle of shampoo is a good idea. You can even buy tea tree oil shampoo.

It works, I promise you! Just do it the right way. If you have any questions you can e-mail me.

Also, wash all linens, pillow cases in very hot water, put your brushes in HOT HOT water for 10 minutes. Wash hats or anything that comes in contact with your head.

I love this remedy because its all natural and doesn't have any chemicals like Nix shampoo or Rid.

Keep a spray bottle handy with diluted vinegar in it. Spray hair every night, comb through with nit comb. Some will come straight out. Once the hair dries, you cannot smell. A good product I found recently was from hairdresser called "Flied Lice". Its is good. I have 9 grandchildren and at least one of them always brings them home from school. Good luck.

That wellness care provider is misguided. There are efficient shampoos and sprays which will kill those nasty issues off. circulate to a save with a pharmacist and have them coach you what must be the desirable product then purchase thrice the quantity stated. i think of the priority is purely which you probably did no longer get all of them and you're being re infested. verify you're spraying all carpets, fixtures, bedding, soak all brushes and combs and take a while whilst going for the duration of the hair. One egg will positioned you back on the beginning up. sturdy success. playstation < now my head itches!!!

Put a whole tub of vaseline on your head it smothers the eggs and lice. I had headlice in grade 9 from my best friends sister and I COULDNET GET RID OF IT! Leave it on for 1 week it is nasty I wont lie but It does works and you dont have to cut off your hair. After 1 week buy a really crappy shampoo or use dishsoap and wash your hair untill the grease is gone. Your hair also gets one awesome conditioner!
