Heck no. That rule only applies to those stupid Harry Potter kids.

If you're talking about being a magician as a profession, like an illusionist like you see on TV or on stage, things like that, then that has nothing to do with religion.

If you're talking about witchcraft or some other pagan art, rituals, or whatnot, those generally don't mesh well with commonly held tenets of Christianity. Whether you'd go to hell, if there is such a place, can only be answered by the all-powerful. Nobody on the planet has the authority or true knowledge to answer that honestly, and no two people will give you the same answers & same reasons. The real question is: What do YOU believe?

Part 1 of answer:

Christian Religious View:

The Bible translation "Do not suffer a witch to live" should read "Do not suffer a witch her (or his) living" I.e. "Don't waste your money an fortune tellers."

There may be other references to witchcraft that are not complementary, but my understanding of the Christian teaching is that nobody is good enough to impress God and if you such up to him he will forgive anything if you are sincere.

Jesus said to beware of men in robes so if everyone who practiced magic is damned, all robe wearing priests might be damned also.

--------------------------------------------

My Ideas:

In an ideal world we would all be in tune with the people around us and God or nature or the Cosmos or whatever we want to call the stuff beyond us.

Whether we follow Wicken practices, Catholicism or whatever there is a danger in using prayer or magic to force the world to our will at the expense of others.

Some Bhudists stress the need to abandon desire or greed in order to find contentment. If taken too far this can lead to having no drive to do anything.

My suggestion is to assume that you have opportunities put in front of you for a reason and to make the best of what you have. Don't try to tell God what to do but also trust that the deep desires of your heart may be put there for a reason.

I believe one of the secrets of life is to find someone who is in need and help them out. I used to concentrate on the more pathetic folks but now I realize that those who have succeed by hard work or good fortune also need our appreciation and help.

If you follow the bible... here is the passage pertaining to such items....

Deuteronomy 18:10-12
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire (fire of Moloch the Owl at Bohemian Grove, child sacrifice), or that useth divination (fortune teller), or an observer of times, or an enchanter (sorcerer), or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer (bringing of dead sprits by magic). For all that do these things are an abomination (higher than a sin) unto YHWH (G_D)

Yes you are going straight to Hell, but the good news is that in Hell you can practice your magic at any time, hope you will succeed!

Magic tricks to entertain, is not really magic, it is alright. If you are talking about magic as in witchcraft and such, maybe going to hell. I can not say for sure, only God knows, but I can say, maybe.

I think for entertainment its cool. But as far as the whole black magic thing I don't think it a wise choice.

May want to reconsider:

"But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."

Revelation 21:8

Not to worry, there is no such thing as magic. Yeah you think you are practicing magic but really you're just fooling yourself.

well i believe our Lord is a forgiving Lord, however it states very clearly in the Bible that it is a sin to practice magic... I know every1 has their own opinions, but i would not mess w/ it.... at all.
