tango...Im sorry
have you ever actually seen a christian ''genuinly'' trying to be a good person??
I've met more atheists that (dont try) just ARE good people
not out of fear or obligation, but because it's whats in their hearts!
btw..you did get me thinking about something, scary though..
If the christians Ive met, behave as badly as they do and are christian,It would be really scary to think what they would behave like if they didnt believe!

I don't think I try to be a good person out of some fear of God. I do it because people are born with a sense of right and wrong, whether God exists or not, so why not do the right thing?
I see people who are sh*ts and I don't want to be what they are. Constantly angry, stressed, stomach problems, wasted energy on keeping up with lies, losing friends, problems on the job, avoiding people they've screwed over, etc. In general just miserable people.
It's just much easier to do the right thing.

Hell no, my new God would become money, and I would use every talent I have to get more of it.
This is why I DO NOT understand atheists!!!
Edit: If I knew it from the early days of my life, I'd be running the country eventually.

I chuckle at how Christians contradict themselves here. How many times have you heard Christians ask Atheists on what they base their morals on if not God? Now suddenly they say that they would be a good person regardless of God?? Talk about contradicting oneself.

Being a "good" person is a fundamental part of a functional society; hopefully if we "knew" there was no god, we would also realize that, and people would still want to be good.

I guess it depends on what you mean by good. If God didnt exists I would probably still do charity work and not steal or kill, lol, but the little things like not watching inappropriate movies, or not drinking at all, who knows.

I hate to be the one to burst your bubble but there are going to be a lot of "good" people burning in Hell! I know personally good people who will not accept Christ as their Lord and Savior and that my friend is the only way.

Absolutely. I would say God has nothing to do with being a good guy... but I would be good nevertheless, I am just sane that way.

yes .
because i was raised to be polite caring .if god did not exist it does not give you the pass to act reckless . we can all agree that people that are not good people usually have bad encounters and a bad life.
