I need an unbiased opinion. My natural hair color is straeberry blonde-red and I recently dyed it black. I like it dark (as well as red, that's how everyonr knows me), and it actually looks good and suprisingly natural (I'm not gothic or emo at all) but my family and my boyfriend want it back to red. I am trying everything to fade it so I can dye it red but I feel like the color isn't budging. I am even trying Prell, baking soda and sunlight. Should I give up a leave it dark or go back to my natural red?

I know this is lame, but I could use an opinion.

How about going back to original hair color but with black highlights?

Go with which ever one makes you feel good about yourself.

It's true the opinions of your boyfriend and mother matter.. but maybe ask them why they like it better red .. is it because they think it's more flattering on you? or is it because they think the black is too harsh and anything else would be better?? Or is it because it's the color they're use to seeing you with.. Don't assume you know why they want you to go back as a red head.. ask them and talk to them..

They may be seeing something you're not seeing.

This may be a poor example.. but every see the girls who say "I know I look good" and you're looking at them, and their fat and nasty looking?? Well same difference.. sometimes we see what we want to see.. and the thing is.. when it comes to apperance, getting some honest insight from people we respect and care about , can help us see what we're not seeing.. so listen to what they have to say..

and then based on their reasons, if it's something like.. it's what we're use to seeing you with.. then keep it dark the way you like.. but if they're saying it because it's not as flattering as your natural color, or too harsh for you.. then give serious consideration to what they're saying.

Personally I color my hair, and I do it a few shades lighter in the spring and summer, and then sometime in the fall, I make it more golden .. just slightly darker from my natural color.. but personally I think it's better to keep your hair in the ballpark of your natural color, .. if you are going to do something drastic like dying it black, or bleaching it white blonde, then it should be a long term thing.. because it is so much harsher on your hair to do something drasticly different for only a short amount of time. Know what I mean??

Anyway, not seeing you.. I'll say I think you should do your natural color.. I think black doesn't look good on many people, despite that they think it does, but in reality.. it mostly doesn't.. and if your natural hair color is strawberry blonde.. that is a beautiful color that so many women would KILL for.. (or at least buy in a box.. *wink*) and I'll also say for the holiday season, the naturacl color would be more cheerful too.

well which colour do you like best? i would go with that one. i went through this problem my hair has been so many colours but in the end when i wanted to go lighter i had to gradually let it fade, its a bugger!! If you chose to go back to red wash your hair like 2 times a day to try and get the black to fade, make sure you get a good conditioner so that your hair doesnt get damaged and when your hair is noticibly faded try and dye it back to your original colour. you may need to do it a couple of times. good luck!!

I would say make it a dark red, almost...like a brick

I agree, those are 2 really cute colors, and it's awesome you can work both of them, but if it's absolutely hard to decide, just mix.

i color my hair a lot my main thing is in the summer i go for lighter shades, like strawberry blonde, then in the winter i go to darker shades, sometimes, i mix them and do like a dark chocolate brown with red in it.

My wife just dyed her hair black and put some red highlites in it, and it looks fantastic. So, I say you do that.
