I've used limewire until now, but I get too many dodgy files under the guise of what i'm looking for. I need another source that i can trust.

Two words for you: Open Source!

When you download Open Source software, you are downloading the software with the author's blessing -- and you know for certain that you're not getting any viruses, adware, spyware or whatever. That's because the authors are distributing the Source Code -- the form of the program that a competent programmer can understand. Anyone is allowed to inspect it, make copies and even modify it -- usually, on the condition that if they make any changes, they must distribute their altered versions in the same way. There is no way to embed adware, spyware or viruses because any competent programmer is able to check for them and if any are found, remove them and distribute their modified version.

Open Source software is almost always available at no cost. There is money to be made, but only by offering valuable ancillary services (such as installation, customisation, training and vetting). Open Source authors care about the quality of the software.

Ubuntu Linux is a complete Open Source operating system which includes alternatives for all the software you are ever likely to need.

limewire is a bad idea, it's full of spyware...what you need it to start using a torrent client.... torrents work completely differently......

BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing (P2P) communications protocol. BitTorrent is a method of distributing large amounts of data widely without the original distributor incurring the entire costs of hardware, hosting and bandwidth resources. Instead, when data is distributed using the BitTorrent protocol, each recipient supplies pieces of the data to newer recipients, reducing the cost and burden on any given individual source, providing redundancy against system problems, and reducing dependence on the original distributor. (Wikipedia.org)

you need to download a torrent client, which is like a program that hosts and maganges your torrents, i highly reccommend "BitLord"
once downloaded and installed, you can download torrents, a website i reccommend is www.torrentspy.com

you should fully uninstall limewire and run a ad & spyware check on your pc,
for that, google, adaware, it's the best one to use...

I was EXACTLY the same. I'm on a mac... but i downloaded and incredible program called 'Transmission'. It's extremely easy and the fastest on mac.

Then you go 'www.mininova.org'. Search for what you're looking for. If it's films, i highly recommend typing in 'axxo'. He does perfect quality dvd rips. So you find the file you want. Download it and open it up/drag it onto the 'Transmission' icon.
Best of luck. You're entering the world of 'Torrents'
