Holy script with out a techer is impossible. because it all leads to wrong path with so many confusions. because some of the things which is written in these books have directly one meaning but there will be an another side of that perticular word, and that only can be described by a sad guru. that's the right teacher.
The right teacher shows the right path and that results in a happy ending no sadies.
In the last you have told a good thing. thats currect . Never a das guru leads u in a wrong path . If he/she is doing that , He/she cant be a good teacher.

That is why you should read both with a teacher and alone. Sure there are problems with teachers (which is why God says they will be held to a higher standard) but there are also benefits. For example, they have often already studied the translation and culture a passage was written in and proper methodology for interpreting ancient literature..
It is like seeing the doctor. There is always a chance you have a bad doctor that can steer you wrong so it is good to do some research on your own However, there is too much to know and it is too important not to seek out their advise.

U r right. I have seen a lot of people interpret the bible wrong. I try to correct them. u need a teacher who know the scriptures really well. A teacher who can give examples and explain it throughly with life experiences. A person who can put those good words into less complicated sentences that can help us see and understand better. Sometimes it is hard to explain those scriptures since many things aren't revealed to us. Or we are ignorant about it. A person with personal knowledge can explain it very well. But I believe that we all need explainations that satisfy our understanding level. I think a person with a deep understanding can help.
But sometimes as a teenager, when I talk to other teenagers about the bible, i get a knowledge just because as a teenager i have the level of understanding that is necessary for a teenager. So going to a very experienced person can confuse me. I think teenagers are probably able to relate the scripture to their life and understand it better while relating to their life circumstances. So sometimes going to a person who is ur age can help tooo.

"U should read holy scripts without the help of a Teacher"

You say we shouldn't have one, and than say we should have one... what crack are you on?

God supplies the right teacher for us...
His Holy Spirit.
The fundamental aspect of Christianity is to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength; and to love others as you would love yourself. Love is the standard of our measure, and the guiding influence of our decisions and lives. God's love within us through His Spirit is more than we can fully share.. overflowing and ever outgoing toward others in our life as we abide in Him.

but how can you tell if you're understanding the scripts well? to read the Bible will lead to atheism, unless you stick your bible and believe what it says.

I like your question as you first wrote it.
- We should read Holy Scripture without the help of a teacher = this give you the freedom to come to your own conclusions. To develop you own ideas and to make your own discoveries.
- We should NOT read Holy Scripture with the help of a teacher = the rise of orthodoxies, the rise of fundamentalism, the lock of thinking from the past and the problems of ritual. In Iran and the Madrasas schools the students are taught to memorize the holy Koran before they are taught to read. They are taught the words with no meaning to them. They are only taught the ideas of the teacher and how they use what they say the scriptures really mean. This is where the ritual chant “Death to America” came from. The fundamental and paranoid Islamic clerics use these classes to start the rise of terrorists.
When the Christian Church first got its start the Bible was written in only Latin, despite the fact that Latin had pretty much died out with the death of the Roman Empire. As history progressed Latin was only taught to a few nobility and to the priests. This gave the priests the power to take total control of the religion and to use it to rule and control that world. The entire feudal system was based on the fact that the majority of the population, the peasants, were tied to the land and forced to serve the lords. The lords and kings were said to be rulers by divine right. This idea hadn’t been so popular since Egypt was at its height. The key to holding the structure together was that you couldn’t disobey the lord or king because he ruled by divine right and to disobey him was to disobey the direct word of god. The church upheld the feudal system and profited off of it, eventually becoming a ruler of land that rivaled the lords for their ownership of land.
When a movement was started in the Christian Church that the bible was not important, that religion was a more personal experience and that the corrupt bishops, archbishops and pope of Rome were in fact works of the devil the Catholic Church, which was losing people to the new Protestant religions, struck out; resulting in the birth of the Spanish Inquisition; the single cruelest religious persecution since the Roman persecution against the Christians in the first place. The Inquisition has not ceased or been closed, it has merely changed its name and is now limited to only the teaching of church doctrine. It has also been denied the power to imprison and torture people.
The single greatest source of wars, hatred and persecution has been organized religion. The strength that gives organized religion its power is that the freedom of interpretation of the text of scripture is held by the church and its leaders. If a maverick priest tried to change this interpretation then the full force of the inquisition came down upon him.
I fear organized religion greatly, it is the worst way to rule that world and you only have to look at fundamental Iran to see its dangers. The biggest problem is that when organized religion takes over there is no room for personal liberty, freedom and decision; never mind public participation in government. Only religion is at the personal level is it truly free and is it truly worthy.
Yes, there is value in the teachings of a religious scholar, priest or cleric. But, the main purpose of the Koran, the Torah, and the Bible is to BE that teaching manual. After all there are only so many meanings you can attach to the line “Thou shall not steal.” Unfortunately, not all of the Bible or the other religious works are so clear. In the Bible there is a line “Thou shall not throw thy seed on infertile ground.” This has been interpreted to mean that being gay is against the bible since gay people waste “thy seed.” How this is translated to include lesbians is not easy to understand since they “waste” their seed (eggs) anytime they have a period.
Religion can be the source of great strength, great hope and is a great way to teach a moral code and how to live our lives. However, when it is cast in the rigid lock of rigid interpretation by religious scholars then the concentration of this amount of power in so few hands leads to abuse and misuse and is the root of most of the organized evil in the world today. It is certainly the root for things like the Spanish Inquisition and the rise of Islamic Fundamentalism. No the teachings of any religious scholar need to be tempered with liberal doses of common sense, and good judgment. If you ask the question “Would Jesus do this,” or would “A God of Love do that” then you realize that many of the teachings of strict Christianity are pure evil. Do you really think that the Profit of Islam wanted his followers to crash airplanes into sky scrapers to kill hundreds in an attempt to kill thousands of people? I can only imagine the great Buddha crying were he to know what evil has been done in the name or religion.
You are totally wrong; the teachers are the one who are spreading the evil and they are the ones who are promoting the hatred and evil. A student should start with the help of a religious scholar, but not be locked in step by them. Remember that Power corrupts and Absolute Power corrupts absolutely.
In the Western World the Dark Ages and the retardation of science that has set us back 500 years (if not 1,000) lies only with organized religion. In this case Christianity said that the science of the Greeks was the ultimate science and any new science was heretical. When Galileo had the sheer nerve to look at Jupiter and discover its moons he proved that the Bible was wrong; the earth was NOT the center of the Universe with everything revolving around it. For that horrible heretical act he was sentenced to over 300 years of house arrest.
In the Middle World the Koran teaches that murder is a foul crime and that mass murder is even worse. But, murder in the name of Jihad is a loving act that insures the male who dies in the cause will be rewarded with 17 virgins in the afterlife. I am sorry there have never been that many virgins on the entire plan to reward all the Jihadists who have turned into suicide warriors. Many Islamic scholars say that this is a horrible perversion of the teachings of Islam, but a radical few continue this perversion to wage holy war on the entire world.
Of course the lack of religion is horrible as well. Look at the total lack of ethics of Communist nations who have no problems with mass slaughter of their people (Tenomon Square), the robbery of cloning (China is notorious for this, and has turned cheap product fraud into a national industry), and the theft of technology. You only have to look a the old Soviet Space Shuttle to see a direct clone of the US version to realize that the commandment “Thou shall not steal” is one that has to be taught to people.
I don’t have enough experience in the Eastern World to diagnose the crimes of there religions but I do know that the religion of Buddhism practice INDIVIDUAL religion and self explorations toward enlightenment. The Buddha himself told his followers he was NOT a god, so that they would not be locked by his teachings. He never claimed to be more than a man and he wanted his followers to advance his teachings and to find new meaning as the world evolved.
Start with a religious scholar, and then avoid them like plauge; many of them are corrupt and the source of vast amounts of evil. I cannot caution enough against the dangers of organized religion. Once you have an accepted teacher then mob rule will insure that no matter how stupid, corrupt, strange or evil he is he will have more followers. You only have to look at David Korish, Charles Manson and the Jim Jones to see the evils of a popular and dangeous religions teacher. Nazisim was a religious like doctine that proclaimed that Aryans were the best race in the world and allowed them to try and exterminate the Jews and take over the rest of the world.
