I do not believe in UFOs per-say but I certainly believe we are not the only intelligent life in the universe.

Unfortunately the odds of comunicating with them is way beyond our capabilities at the moment and unless we find a way to travel through worm holes I can't see anyway of ever meeting them, even at the speed of light it would take 100 000 years just to leave our galaxy.

Nope. It's likely that humans will have the ability to visit other planets, maybe other solar systems, within the next 50 years (probably sooner).

If inhabitants of another planet in some other solar system are a mere 50 years older and more advanced than those of Earth, then they could have the ability to travel here. What if they're 500 or 2000 years older? Consider the technological development on this planet within the past 2000 years. I think UFO's and aliens are significantly more likely to exist than gods.

An Unidentified Flying Object is just that: Unidentified. That could cover anything from a paper airplane to a spy plane to a spaceship. There's nothing crazy about believing in objects that can't yet be identified when there is photo and video evidence of them. At least atheists who believe in UFO's aren't trying to force them on anyone else.

Just as crazy? No.... at least they have pictures. :-p

I'm assuming by UFO you mean aliens visiting this planet (cause UFO itself is just a term that can apply to anything, so of course that exists).

I personally don't believe it. Even the most advanced physics we know of respects the speed of light limit. That makes it pretty tough to get to other star systems. The universe is REALLY freakin' big. Not only that, but said alien civilization is most likely separated in TIME as much as distance. Our Earth is 4 billion years old, but we've only been around for some 500,000 years, conservatively. And most of that time we were figuring out how to avoid being eaten by other things. If an alien civilization developed on another planet at the same rate, they could have hit the point we're at now millions of years ago, or millions of years into the future. So the chances of us meeting them is exceptionally small.

But crazy as fundies who ignore logic and have zero evidence for what they believe?

Nope... It's hard to swing that low.

Yeah why not?

I am not an atheist (agnostic) and don't believe fundy christians are that loopy, just a little narrow minded....

I guess people who believe in UFOs do so for similar reasons but are no worse than the fundy Christians.

Disagree. The "U" in UFO stands for Unidentified. So if I've seen something in the sky that I can't identify (and I have) that means I'm a nutcase? No.
Now the folks who believe in little grey men with rectal probes, you might be able to make a case for. But even they have more credibility than the fundies.

People that do not acknowle HIM are doomed and going to hell. I once heard that most people will believe anything: Tell a man a bench has wet paint and he'll believe you and not sit down. Tell him the sky is blue and he'll look up to make sure.

An atheist was walking through the woods. "What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!" he said to himself.

As he was walking alongside the river he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly charging towards him.

He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing up on him. He looked over his shoulder again and saw that the bear was even closer.

Then he tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up, but saw the bear right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike him. At that instant the atheist cried: "Oh my God! . . . "

Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent. As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came from the sky saying:

"You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist, and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect Me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?"

The atheist looked directly into the light. "It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask You to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps could you make the bear a Christian?"

"Very well," said the voice.

The light went out. The sound of the forest resumed. And then the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head, and spoke: "Lord, bless this food which I am about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord. Amen."

disagree... the term UFO is Unidentified Flying Object... meaning that if you can't tell what it is for sure it's a UFO. Now if you mean that if they believe in aliens they are crazy as fundy Christians I would still tell you that you're full of ****.

Cause just as crazy as they are for believing something you are just as crazy for thinking that it not being there is fact.

Things may or may not exist and saying that it definitely isn't there is just as bad as saying it definitely is.

Agree, but not necessarily.....remember: there are many atheists that don't reject the POSSIBILITY of aliens.....see Carl Sagan and maybe Stephen Hawking(i don't think he's an atheist though, maybe a deist?).

"I'll believe anything, no matter how wild and ridiculous, if there is evidence for it. The wilder and more ridiculous something is, however, the firmer and more solid the evidence will have to be.'"-Isaac Asimov

Agreed, now maybe that punk will stop saying atheists all believe in UFO's and are crazy.

I'm not trying to be rude, but I think if you automatically start taking that kind of an attitude towards certain people simply because you don't agree with what they think or believe, you are in danger of becoming as dogmatic as the fanatics you are against....
