Its normal for college students to live at home while continuing their education. Once you graduate you get a job then its probably time to move out. As long as you arent causing problems for them I see nothing wrong with it.

It's true every situation is different. I am 25 finished college 2 yrs ago. I found a job I love and have a woman I love. I have already started looking for a place to live. Now that you want to be even more imdependant and do your own thing they still think of your "obligation" to the family. Deep down I think parents have problems with their kids leaving but

You should discuss this with your dad. Does he need you there to help out around the house? If not, get out on your own! I'm 21 and have been out of my parents house for almost 4 years now. I'm very independent though and like to do things on my own. If this is not you and you are somewhat nervous about having your own place, stay at home.

1) When they tell you to
OR
2) When you have finished college, found a job, spent some time saving enough for deposits or a down-payment (3-9 months)
Dad may want you to stay longer if you are comfortable and helping. Talk with him about how you are thinking about the future and what HIS expectants are for you.

As long as you're in college and help out I'd say it's ok. I hope you have at least a part time job so you're not always asking for money. Sounds like you're helping whatever way you can to earn your keep at home. Keep up the good work!

I think it's normal for college aged kids to stay at home. A good time to move out would be after graduation, when you have a steady job. Once you are able to support yourself, there is no need to expect your parents to. That is just out right lazy and unambitious.

You should leave once you have finished college and have a decent job.
If that means a couple of more years, i don't see the harm in that.
I am 26 and am moving out in January. My parents actually want me to stay longer, but i guess that varies from parent to parent.

It depends. When do you finish school? Do you have any other place to go that you can afford while you are in school? There is really no set time, while you are getting your education. This is something that you and your dad will have to discuss.

My kids would never overstay their welcome with me - maybe your dad feels the same way. You will move out when it feels like it is time to go out on your own. It's natural, and every kid feels it is their time for different reasons - and even my kids are on their own.
