Mary, Ruth, Rebecca, Solome, Delilah. Do you not place these as noteworthy amongst the figures of the bible?
Was the ancient world run by men or women? Is not the bible history of these times not reflective of the reality of the situation?
Who saved Moses from the Nile, and who raised him in spite of Pharoah's decree? Two women defied the man in charge to save another man. Impressive feat to be accomplished by mere women, eh?

I don't think that God or Jesus look down on women. I think that the Christian church of that time wanted to be able to keep women "in their place" (which was barefoot and pregnant), and they didn't want women to think. Which is why they declared Mary Magdalene was a harlot.. because they knew that she was at least a disciple of Jesus (they came out in 1969 and admitted that they were indeed wrong about Mary Magdalene). That's why they didn't put her gospel in the Bible, because they wanted it to seem like women were only good for cooking, cleaning, and making babies.
edit:
to going2rock- I don't know what god you believe in, but my God made men and women as equals. I am the HOH in my home. I was not made for a man, or from a man. I come from my momma, who is also a strong woman.

Um, how is that possible, when Deborah was a judge, a prophetess, and led the Israelite people? Read it for yourself.

Also keep in mind that it was women who found the empty tomb.
And by the way, I would squirm if Senator Clinton was elected...right before my husband and I moved to Canada!

The Old Testament is deliberately anti-female, and so are the writings of Paul. Jesus, however, was far more tolerant of women than anyone else in the bible.
Hillary is a conservative Christian, you know. I mean conservative by Southern standards. Don't think the Right doesn't know that - it's why she does better in the polls than Obama. People who would never vote for Obama because of his color will vote for Hillary because of her religion.

I think everybody should be anti-feminist. The bible is anti-woman, though. Big difference.
Feminism as an ideal is disgusting. Women aren't superior to men. Women aren't smarter than men. Women aren't better than men. It's not the other way around, either. But feminists aren't campaigning for equal rights, they're campaigning for superior rights.

Back in those times women really had no say in anything. That is just how it was. What does Hillary have to do with God and the Bible?

You obviously have no understanding of God. God made man in his image and woman as a helper. There were also important women in the Bible. One very important one was Mary (Jesus' Mother). If you own a Bible try opening it instead of using it as a door stop.

The Bible was written and directed at a people of a very diff society. You need to put the Bible into context.

Not at all. Men and women have different roles but one is not more important than the other, and Jesus went out of his way to demonstrate this several times.
