If they do why?

The reason I am asking this strange question is because I read an article that some soldiers got to go home for Thankgiving

What kind of question is that?

We're in a WAR. of course they have to stay for Thanksgiving. Just because it's our holiday doesn't mean it's the enemies'. Plus we don't have the resources to move EVERYONE out overnight and BACK the next day.

Ever hear of the Tet Offensive? That's why.

Excuse me if this comes off as kind of abrasive. That question comes off as kind of airheaded. Then again I'm drinking IceHouse and everyone knows what IceHouse does to people.

No.....All the Soldiers get to come home for the day!
They come home that morning....But they have to be back that night...

All the bad guys behave themselves in honor of our American Traditions, even though it is their primary goal to end the American way of life!

Are you kidding with this question? and to top it all off you ask Why?

It's called WAR! There are no breaks, there are no Holidays!
These men and women are over there fighting to insure YOU have a Thanksgiving Holiday! And for the rights to continue to do so in the years to come! And they do the same on Christmas too!

*************
I read your additional comment and the reason why Some of the Troops get to come home is either it worked out that it was the end of their tour...OR they had enough time in to be granted a Leave....But those on leave will have to return at the time specified.

Yes, we still perform missions on all holidays to include Thanksgiving and Christmas. We usually get pretty nice meals to celebrate the holidays. I spent my first Thanksgiving and Christmas in Iraq in a guard tower in 2003.

lol, interesting question. No they do not get to come home for Holidays. The war is still going, the radicals don't just quit fighting for our America's Holidays or any Holiday. Most however do celebrate Thanksgiving, The mess tents are provided turkey and all the goodies.
Give Thanks to our troops :)

No. Bush signed a treaty with Iraq and Osama Bin Laden in which they stop attacking us on all major U.S. holidays. It also states that all troops come home for major U.S. holidays as long as they are back before 12:00 the next day. If they are not back then the U.S. pays a hefty fine....I think they also get easter.

Of course not. War gets 7 holidays, 10 sick days, and 3 weeks vacation per year. The whole world schedules their wars around American holidays, especially the extremists. The love us so much, they take time off from planting ieds and suicide bombing for us. See, everybody around the world holds us in such high regard, that they allow us all the time we need to rest and re-energize so we don't get too tired from killing them.
