Most likely whatever specialist is treating your for whatever disease is killing; although, their "estimate" is not guaranteed to be accurate one way or the other. And, they certainly can't give you an approximate time. They usually say 2-4 weeks, or 6 months.

a doctor dealing in terminal disease, as in an illness which WILL kill you ..all most any doctor can use knowledge of that illness to tell you when you'll kick the bucket
