What is the appropriate time to applaud during a Nascar race? I'm going to Dover next year, and I wanted to know so that I didn't look like some kind of idiot in front of all of these other people. I know that I'll probably never see them after the race, but I still want to look like a normal race fan, although a normal race fan would probably know when to clap during a race.

Whenever you want to!!!! Clap when your guy passes someone else; clap when some celeb - who has probably never been to a NASCAR event before yells "gentlemen, start your engines"; clap when someone you like makes a sub 13 sec. pitshop; and always, always, clap - even if its a driver you don't like, gets out of his car okay after a big wreck!!

There is nothing wrong with being a unique individual. You will have a better time if you don't try to be like everyone else.
Try this. While everyone else is just sitting there like a knot on a log and is not very excited jump up shouting, screaming and applauding. They will look at you like you are krazy.
Then while everyone else is applauding then you turn around and throw your hands up in the air and give a "what look" at everyone else. Look at THEM like THEY are krazy.
Sooner or later you will have people admiring you for being unique. It will become fun. They will catch on and start doing what you do. You will be a hit at the Nascar race.
You have to remember. There is probably going to be a lot of intoxicated fans around you. Don't worry about being normal.

Dude! this is Nascar, party like its 1999, Clap, yell, raise your arms, wave, jump, scream, do yo' own thing...Everyone has a great time, you'll even make friends in the stands, and have some rivalry's as well...Its all about having fun and having a great time...Hey most people have a few beers under their belt anyway.....Go and enjoy yourself, have a great time...

Clapping??? There's no clapping in NASCAR. Clinch your fists and pump your arms while yelling some snarls on top of your lungs...hi five everyone around...spray your beer (at people smaller or less mean than you). If you clap, you will be considered a woos. There'll be so much noise and mayhem, clapping is just not the way to go. Save it for a subdued symphony at the auditorium.

Have fun. Like some of the others said, you will know when to clap. Your there to have fun, clap as much as you want. Afer the race starts nobody will be able to hear you clap because of the AWESOME ROAR of the cars going by and their engines humming.

Just do whatever you feel whenever you want to. Everyone else will be doing the same. You'll have a great time.

man the guys in the cars wont hear you, even still, i find it nice to just yell my head off occasionally with some curse words mixed in. when yer driver goes by and is running up front ill yell something at the top of my lungs like "run that ************ down, go get em boy"! you dont wanna see what im like when my driver WINS. lol
p.s. this year at the B-yard i saw two people so close to having sex in the stands that security had to tell them to stop or leave so man - clap, flip the bird, curse, yeeehaw or whatever! damn near anything goes.

i'm a kind of quiet girl..but at the race--nah. this may not be sportman like but when they driver introductions were made i booed those i dont like and i cheered as loud as i could for my drivers. during the race-stand, cheer, yell, boo whenever you feel like it. its your call. everyone else is looking stupid too so you should just join in, cause then..no one looks stupid. well except for those drunks sitting in front of you who dont even know where they are or why its so loud.

Don't worry about looking like an idiot!!! Trust me, there are plenty of drunk people around to look like bigger idiots!! And when your driver is doing well, you applaud all you want, whenever you want to!

You just spent a couple hundred dollars to see a Nascar race
its your party, do what you want Check bicep sizes before
giving someone a cussing tho.
one more thing Don`t throw beer cans at the winner
unless of course there empty .
