My friend is looking to purchase canon S5 IS from US. Since there are good deals in US at this time, maybe due to thanks giving, the price of S5 IS is unbelievable 10K as opposed to 23K, I myself purchased here in India.
I wanted to confirm the genuineness and authenticity of the US purchased product in terms of quality and warranty? Are there any problems later, if bought from US. I am somewhat amazed at the low price.

imo, buying online is generally safe now. and to my knowledge, i haven't had any run-ins with imitation/fake cameras. it should come with a manufacturer's warranty of about 1-year.

The USA warranty will not be good in India.
