I must honestly say I have never heard of a carpet ball. My curiosity got the best of me. So I did a search for them. I found this site, that tells the history of the antique "Carpet Balls," and the new porcelain version the artist made because she was inspired by the original carpet balls.
Thank you for expanding my world.
