I've always thought it was someone who CHALLENGES you in a positive way and allows you to be YOU -- the way YOU are SUPPOSED to be -- whatever that means. I always thought it would make sense, once I've met them. At one point in my life, I actually thought I did, but now I have no friggin clue anymore.
Can someone give me the proper meaning of a soulmate? I don't believe, that just because you love someone a lot, they're your soulmate. It has to be deeper than that.

i don't really think there is any such thing. i think there are people you connect with, and people you don't. i don't believe there's just one person out there for anyone. but i do believe whoever you're with you should devote yourself entirely to that person. if the feelings are returned, you've got a keeper.

A person with whom you have an immediate connection the moment you meet -- a connection so strong that you are drawn to them in a way you have never experienced before. This may sound a little strange, and I'm hoping I can explain it right, so try to stay with me, lol.
I believe that when our spirit was created, it wasn't just a single entity. It was two in one, and those two halves split, forming two separate spirits. So, basically, this spirit is your other half, literally. I also think that you are never on Earth with your soul mate at the same time. If you find someone who you feel an automatic connection with, many people tend to believe that this person is their soul mate, but they are a kindred spirit (you can meet many people like this in your life).
Odd, I know, but it's just one opinion.

Someone you are lucky enough to find that does end up completing you. You describe it very well. Whether it has to do with metaphysics doesn't really matter so much, or even whether they are the only person that could have that effect on you. When you do find a person that does that, they are your perfect mate.

You can have different soul mates at different times in your life and it may not always be a romantc escapade. My children (I feel) are as close to soul mates that I have, and the love of my life who was in a sense my soul mate... well we did not communicate very well on this earth plane. We communicated always quite well telepathically, but rarely ever communicated to eachother as normal couples or friends do. For what ever reason that did not seem to be possible. You will always love your soul mate.... but that does not mean that you will marry them and stay with eachother on earth till the end of time like in story books.

Given my state of mind, I would say that a soulmate is a person to whom you are willing to give your life, in the sense that you have no life figuratively. It would be ideal if that person acted the same way. Just don't count on it. I did and I am very sorry and angry that I did.

To me, a soul mate is someone that you connect with heart, soul and mind and completes you! To me, I just knew when I met my now husband. After 10 yrs together we have Never had an argument and have Never yelled or cursed at each other, and can discuss anything without judging

Your right, it goes a lot deeper than love. I don't think there's any way to describe it other than what the dictionary says: Soul-mate is a term sometimes used to designate someone with whom one has a feeling of deep and natural affinity, friendship, love ...
When you find your soul-mate, it'll hit you like a ton of bricks.

A soulmate is who you make it, and who they make you. Quite simply, only you can determine what constitutes "soulmate" for you. I bet there's more than one for everyone, and I bet that there are different kinds... not just romantic. Happy hunting. :-)

Someone that your destined to be with. Although if your destined to be with somebody by fate then its not really special now is it. Because the decision is out of your control. Makes you a slave.
