I was talking with my mother the other day about this. I have a cousin that would rather her children date someone of the same gender than someone of a different race. I have no problem with either, as long as my children are happy. Think is, I informed my mother that in the bible there is nothing against inter-racial relationships, but there IS about being with someone of the same gender. If anyone knows of the passage in the bible that my mother is trying to claim is there, please let me know. I have yet to hear about this ever. I am a Christian woman, but people are people and as long as they aren't hurting other people, let them be. It is not our place to judge. Leave that up to God. As long as they aren't breaking laws, let them be.

I know of none. In fact, many prominent Bible characters (including Moses) had interracial marriages.

As a follower of an indigenous folkway (Norse heathenry) I tend toward the assumption that different races, ethnicities, and peoples have different pantheons of gods, who are still involved with the descendants of those cultures, even here in Vinland. As such, I think mixed heritage relationships lead to spiritual confusion for the children they produce.

As a pragmatic realist (something heathenry tends toward) I also think that only a clueless idiot could ignore the social tensions certain pairings engender, and the limitations they place on any offspring.

Love conquers all *within* the relationship, perhaps. Perhaps not. But in most places, an interracial couple is likely to be socially isolated to a larger degree than the "kumbayah" crowd is generally willing to admit.

A good friend of mine is half Swedish, half black---which as he puts it, "in America means that I'm black." Something to think about.

There is a story in Judges 14 about Sampson's philistine wife.- this line of thinking is usually assocaited with the Old Testament- because God did not want His people to "water down" their race. The main thing is- are both people believers? Being unequally yoked only brings much grief in life. (Been spiritually unequally yoked before)
I will add that I attend a church that welcomes interracial familes- to us, we're all God's children!

Some people use the verse unequally yoked. and also one of Noah's children were slaves. They use that also. The Bible says that God is no respecter of man. He don't look on the outside, but on the heart. Man is the one who looks on the outside. Man is the one who judges, and says things are wrong. God never did say it was wrong. It is wrong for the same sex, but not anything else. Moses was married to a black lady, Solomon was married to a black woman. It is just in people minds that it is wrong.

There is no scriptural basis to the claim that inter-racial relationships are wrong. Scripture speaks of being "unequally yoked," however if one bothers to read further the full quote is:

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers"
2 Corinthians 6:14

You might be thinking of the "unequally yoked" passage, which backs up the idea that consistently, when the Jews went out and intermarried with pagans, they usually got in trouble...their ideals would be watered down or abandoned, or they would be betrayed by that person, or they would find themselves at odds with the other peoples' leaders.

But this is NOT a statement about race, it is about religion...do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers.

There isnt anything in the bible saying inter-racial relationships are wrong...its just a choice to feel how one feels about it.

That is merely an opinion. God's Word is truth. The next time someone say something like that, ask them to show you in the scripture. Your mother is the reason why we must stay fully persuaded in our belief in God and the unadulterated Word of God.

There is no passage in the New Testament that would justify barring inter-racial dating. In fact the admonition is for us not to see such differences:

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28

Mom of 4, I had a roommate and she was told the same thing in her church.
The Bible says that birds would mate with birds, fish with fish, & He made woman for man, and man for woman.
The only instructions we are given by Paul is believers not to marry unbelievers.
