Do you reply, “Yes, this is her” or “Yes, this she”

"This is she" is the correct way.

According to the rules in many grammar books, "This is she" would be the right answer. But, as you know, this often sounds overly formal and stilted, because actually "This is her" uses a form that English has used for many hundreds of years.

I recommend, "This is Jane." That should do and won't make anybody feel funny.

"Yes, this is she"

Or you could pretend to be someone else and call for yourself to get the phone then answer it again, say "speaking" or answer the phone "Hello this is the Smith residence, Jane Doe speaking" before they can ask.

Personally I just say hello again, it usually gets my point across...

Neither, I let the fax machine answer because If the number does not show up in the ID box, Then I don't want the call. Avoids all the hassle of some Telemarketer jerks calling & asking that stupid question in the first place.

The best way to answer the phone is..

When u pick up the phone.. U can either say ur name or hello!

If ur name is sandy... Say Sandy here/speaking

Or a Plain hello will do.. But this is very common

On a lighter side.. U can say... Who is the disturbance..

I use this term for my personal friends

Hope this helps

Yes, this is she is appropriate. If that seems awkward to you , you could always try " Speaking".

"This is she" may be technically correct, but I personally feel it sounds awkward and unlovely.

I would opt for, "Jane Doe speaking".

Cheers :-)
