I have a 5 yr old son who kills every living thing he touches... We know he has something against dogs, we don't know what or why, but other animals he seems to have a distaste for as well. He is just plain mean to them or way too rough with them. Any suggestions on what to do about this or what it might be?

You need to get your son to a child psychiatrist right away.

A 5 yr old is supposed to feel empathy for living things and even some non living things like their favorite teddy bear.

You child is showing very dangerous signs and you need to get him help.

Good luck!

Please understand that this is NOT normal or healthy behavior. This signifies a major psychiatric and/or emotional problem. Alarms should be going off in your head by now. Please get your son to a mental health facility immediately so he can get a full evaluation and the help he so desperately needs.
As someone else said, this is how Jeffrey Dahmer started out. With all due respect, many people with severe psychiatric disorders/serial killers behave in the same way. Your little boy is a danger right now, and he needs to be in a safe place where he can get better.
I'm not going to judge you, because these problems are not always caused by anyone, let alone a parent. But you're responsible for getting him help. If you don't, it's only a matter of time before he hurts another innocent animal - or maybe another child, you or himself. Good luck and I hope your little boy is able to get help.

It's totally her taking things too far. I can't imagine she's able to support many products and services at all if that's how she feels about 101 Dalmatians. When I watched it as a kid, I thought, "Killing puppies for fur coats- bad." I don't think 5 year olds are thinking beyond that, and I can't believe their parents are.

I would take him to see a child psychologist ASAP.Killing animals at 5 is not normal. What will he be doing by the time he is 10. I've read alot of books on true crime, and this is a common thing in serial killers, and sex offenders. Get him to see someone

Get him to a psychologist asap! Don not pass go, do not collect $200. Seriously, there is something mentally going on with your son and there is an underlying reason somewhere. If he doesn't get help, he will end up in prison one day because today, it's a dog, tomorrow, it's a human being.

Take him to a psychologist immediately! That's a very good indication that something isn't right with him. What happens when he gets older? Do you think it will stay with animals?

Talk to your family doctor, he can give you the name of someone that has dealt with a similar situation. He has some issues to resolve, has he been tested for ADHD? If it is a form of anxiety there are medications which could help him reduce his aggressive tendencies.

Seek professional help.

Behavior of this type is an indicator of some serious problems and they will only get worse if he doesn't get help early.

That's so awful! Is it possible that someone is abusing him or he's witnessing abuse in some form? I would speak to a professional about this before he get's any older. He may need some type of counselling.

I think your son needs therapy. Something is going on.
