Religious Christian are always trying to defend God without knowing the ways of God .
God is indeed the Creator of Darkness and Light right from the beginning of verse one in the Bible.
He separated the Darkness by creating LIGHT and called Light "Good!" but not "Darkness" of course!
Religious Christian can you let God be God ?
He can jolly well defend Himself against His puny creatures trying to question His Goodness. So will you lay it off religious Christians"

paula R, are you saying God is a liar? He says He did in His Word?
Think about it , have you got the right to do what you like with something that you truly own ? To break it, melt it, crush it, remould it or whatever?
Not a perfect analogy but good enough to drives home a point?

Satan is more of an Adversary of men rather than of God. God created Satan as a Destroyer to destroy but no weapons formed by him can ever harm His sons (sons of God or believers and from the line of Adam and not Cain who is of the evil one Scripture tells us)
But because Job opened himself up by his own "thought-live" and confession; Satan can have access to him . Job said "what I fear have now come upon me"
God only allows Satan on this wise not because God want Satan to test Job. God knows Job's heart and thoughts and so He did prevent Satan from doing what he did until Job repented and confesses his sins and ask God back in Job 42. Read also Isaiah 54:13-17

I say: God is the creator of all things. He is in control of all things. I am a puny creature and eternally greatful He chose to remold me in the likeness of Christ Jesus, His Son.

God created Satan as previously said who rebelled against him and became evil. God allows evil as Christine said for the betterment of the human race and for the ultimate gift to us all (eternal life).
Satan is an angel (Job 1-2). God made him before the world began (Job 38:4-7). Satan was very powerful (Revelation 12:3: "ten horns") and very wise (Revelation 12:3: "seven heads"). But he became the first sinner (1 John 3:8). Apparently at one point in the past (or possibly future) he led a rebellion in heaven against God (Revelation 12:7). In Satan’s fall, he drew a vast number of angels with him (Revelation 12:4, 9). Some of the fallen angels are loose and some are bound in a place called the Abyss (Luke 8:31). The loose ones we call "demons". Of the bound ones, there are two kinds, permanently bound (2 Peter 2:4; Jude 6) and temporarily bound (Revelation 9:1-11). Satan and his demons now wage war against God’s kingdom (Revelation 12:17). Some people think that Satan lives in hell, but hell is where Satan and the wicked will be sent at the last judgment. Satan now dwells on earth (Job 1:7). At the Second Coming of Christ, he will be bound for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:1-3). After the thousand years, he will be set free for a short time and will go out to deceive the nations (Revelation 20:7-9). The devil’s final end will be in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10), which was prepared by God for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41).
# Satan rules a domain of demons, but he does not rule beyond the bound of that confinement of rule which God has given him.
# Satan never has cast off the government of God, since the rebellion totally failed. He has been exiled to the earth and the domain around it (Ephesians 2:2).
# Satan’s chain stretches just so far and God allows him to go that far and no farther. He operates completely within the sphere of God’s allowance (e.g. Job 1:12; 2:6; Luke 22:31-32).
# God even uses Satan to His own ends (2 Corinthians 12:7).
# Satan can only do to believers what God permits him to do (Job 1:12; 2:6).

According to the scripture yes he is the creator of evil whether anyone wants to own up to it or not. God knows all things in advance and since he knew what choice Satan would make yes that is creating evil no matter how you slice it. If you watch your son riding his bike straight toward the street and say nothing because he has free will then you are an evil parent.

Yes, although He is not the author of evil, he ultimately allows it to happen for His ultimate purposes of the betterment of the human race. This helps us, as His children, grow and become more like Him. See Jesus Christ as ultimate example! Satan will always answer to God, and will never do against His will (see Job!), as all things under Heaven are subject to Him and His will. Satan ultimately, is the adversary that God agrees to test His children with.
Evil is the balance of good, the opposite of good, and in this material world, which is of duality, whereas in God, there is unity of all. All comes from the Source, and will eventually return to the ultimate good and love of that Source.
Gnostic Christian Universalist
PS. I never said evil was on equal footing with God, but that in this material world, it is a world of good and evil, a world of opposites, a world of duality. However, All Things Under Heaven are Subject to God and His Will. This, according to His will. Again, see Job as an example of Satan acting as an adversary with God's blessing to test Job, and Jesus Christ, as the ultimate example to us of Perfect Primordial Man, the True Human Being, to which we all aspire.

Kinda contradictory, isn't it, though? After he made everything in the first seven days, he said it is good but then he constantly is disappointed by us and punishes us...eventually, he sets up an eternal state of punishment for being what he already knew we were. Sheesh. I sure am glad that religion's not true.

Thats made me wonder to....people won't believe in God unless He's made in their image.
An omnipotent being can be any kind of god he wants ... if we didn't like it, thats just too bad, but he would still be a god and he could make the rules.
Fortunately we have a God that wants better for us.

God created the potential of evil by giving the gift of free choice. Lucifer decided to use this to his advantage when the thought he was better than God and took 1/3 of the angels from Heaven and brought them to eternal suffering, Hell, and created sins and evil.
