Immortal soul isn't used in the Bible to describe humans because we don't have immortal souls. We die! When anyone says that we don't, they are just perpetuating the old lie that Satan told at the tree in the garden of Eden... " you surely will not die".
Death is like sleep. At the resurrection, actual death will occur for many people. Destruction as in cease to exist. There is no "immortal soul" found in the Bible for human beings.

It is not there even though many Christians believe the soul is immortal. I find it interesting though that the word death is found many times and these same Christians seem to have no problem trying to explain that death actually means life.
edit: esther93, you have quoted a wonderful text which in itself tells us that man is mortal. It continues to say that it is at the second coming of Christ that man will receive immortality and that it will be given only to the righteous.

That term is not found in the Bible. The reason is not found there is because it is redundant. There is no such thing as a mortal soul or any other kind of soul. Souls are always immortal so to use the term "immortal soul" would be like using the term "attractive gravity" or "fluid liquid".

It cannot be found anywhere in the Bible. The Bible does not teach of an immortal soul; in fact it teaches the very opposite. When we die, we are dead and no longer exist. Jesus himself did not have an immortal soul. He was dead for three days and was resurrected. Resurrection is what the rest of us can hope for when Jesus returns.
