God wanted to separate the Hebrews to Himself, to have them be a distinct nation under Him. To do that, He needed to institute Laws that made them different, such as the Kosher diet, the clothing and lifestyle choices He wanted them to make.

There are also practical health reasons why some animals are Kosher and some are not. For example, before swine were able to be properly prepared for meals, trichinosis was a common disease contracted from ill-cooked pork.

the requirement of food being kosher was part of God`s covenant with the hebrew people and it does not pertain to all christians! in the book of acts chapter 10 verses 9-15 God talks to peter about this very thing! read it for yourself!

If you're wandering around in the desert with poor food storage, inconsistent cooking practices, and no knowledge of microbiology--you're just better off not eating pork or seafood. It was a very practical instruction.

well at the moment all i can remember is that the kosher aninmals were considered "clean" and the others were not....


i think if an animal was a scavenger that was one of the "unclean" ones but not all of the reasons...

Kosher animals are a food source & unkosher are scavengers or garbage diposals, they both have a purpose. Peace!!!

Supposedly we were all vegetarians before Adam and Eve screwed up and ate that fruit, I guess god did not plan ahead.

God gave them to us to eat, that is in the old testament. Pray over eat and Thank God for it and eat it, that's that!

Apparantly pork and porklike meats taste like human flesh. My guess is that God didn't want the people to get to like the taste of Soylent Green, if you get my meaning.
